Great British Fish and Chip Supper 2019

SIA’s Biggest Ever ‘Great British Fish & Chips Supper’

7 June 2019

Friday 7th June is ‘National Fish and Chips’ day in the UK, and what better day is there to celebrate a Great British classic – whilst helping a fantastic cause at the same time.

Help us to make this Spinal Injuries Association’s biggest EVER Fish and Chips supper!

Boat-loads of our members, supporters and friends have already signed up to host a Fish and Chips supper, and we want you to get involved, by tucking in and celebrating everything SIA, whilst raising the vital funds and awareness needed to help change the lives of spinal cord injured people all around the UK!

You can add to our growing number of SIA Fish and Chips fanatics in one of the fun, easy ways below:

Host a fish and chip supper at home with friends and family:

Either buy dinner for family, friends and neighbours from the local chippy, try Ronnie’s recipe above, cook your own secret recipe, or generally dish up whatever tantilizes your taste-buds. Add some entertainment in the form of our fishy quiz, party games or even screen a fish-themed movie – our suggestion would be Finding Nemo instead of Jaws. Suggest that guests make a small donation (some of what they might spend on a meal out) or fill a collection box with a few spare coins, to help make a big difference for SIA – whilst having a whale of a time!

Involve your club, workplace or team mates:

Get a larger group of friends, teammates or club members involved in an event, or approach your colleagues about hosting a Fish and Chips lunch at your office. Add in some extra fundraising ideas such as a raffle or auction, turn our own fish-themed quiz into a proper quiz night, or suggest that guests come in nautical fancy dress with prizes for best-dressed. If you are the daring sort, you could even arrange a sponsored challenge – seeing colleagues compete to eat the most pickled eggs would defintely get the donations flowing!

You can also help raise awareness by showing our videos or having our literature on display – making it a fish and chip supper with a real difference!

Canvas your local eateries for support:

Why not ask your local chip shop or restaurant for support? Perhaps they could create a special dish and donate the proceeds, or ask every diner for a donation? Even putting up a poster to raise awareness, or hosting a charity tin for a week can really help raise the vital support we need! Our fundraising pack contains a ‘letter of support’ asking for people to help us exactly this way, so all we need you to do is get a foot in the door, and help us find some kind, charity-minded chippys!

We will be following all your efforts on social media too, so make sure to send in your photos and messages detailing your attemps, and we will be happy to share them with everyone else to showcase your support for SIA!

To request a fundraising pack, either call our fundraising team onL 01908 208 541, email us, or, fill in your details in the form below.

Our pack includes everything you will need to make your evening a success, including some invitation cards, fish and chips posters, sponsorship forms, donation envelopes, balloons and much more.

New for 2018 we have also included our very own fish-themed quiz, and have also produced a raffle game for people to ‘find our chip van’: both of which can be done either in your home with friends, at work with colleagues, or at a local club or group evening.

If you can’t join us on 1st June, dont worry, as people will be holding fish and chip suppers all around the country throughout the year! To tell us about an event you are planning, or to ask for support from our team, get in touch and we will always be very happy to help you plan your very own Great Big Fish and Chips Supper!

We don’t know about you but after reading this we are definitely going to the chippy today… hopefully we will see you there!
