The Museums at Night festival runs from Wednesday 16th to Saturday 19th May and also on Halloween. Organised by not-for-profit cultural publisher Culture24, it’s a chance to visit your favourite museum or gallery after hours, socialise and possibly enjoy a cocktail or two (depending on the venue!).
Running since 2009, Museums at Night is timed every year to coincide with the European Campaign La Nuit Des Musees and also International Museums Day which takes place on the 18th May. The festival has expanded rapidly every year, and this year there are over 500 venues participating across the country with 700 different events running and an expected 100,000 visitors.
Museums at night offers a rare opportunity for visitors to get more involved and see participating venues in a different way with a varied range of experiences on offer from special exhibits and performance art to guided tours, concerts and even murder mystery nights.
Tickets are available events in May from January, and for Halloween events from June and a full list of participating museums and venues can be found on the Museums at Night website along with a selection of videos detailing events from past years.
