Have you got the bottle?
On the 19th June we’ll be asking the UK public if they’ve got the bottle to stop plastic at source by switching from a plastic bottle to a reusable one and Refilling on the go using the free Refill app.
Over the last 15 years, consumption of bottled water has doubled in the UK. Of the 13 billion plastic bottles used in the UK each year – 7.7 billion, or nearly 60% are plastic water bottles. Almost half of these are not recycled and15 million plastic bottles are littered, landfilled or incinerated every day!
We want to do something about this! Refill is an award-winning campaign to prevent plastic pollution at source by making it easier to reuse and refill your water bottle on the go than to buy a single-use plastic bottle. The campaign works by connecting people who are looking for water, with thousands of local business, transport hubs and public spaces where they can refill for free via a location-based app. If all our Refill stations are used just TWICE a day we’re stopping around 10 million plastic bottles at source in a year!
How to Join the Refill Revolution on National Refill Day
• Tell the world you’ve got the bottle to stop plastic pollution at source.
• Download the FREE Refill app and find out where you can Refill with quality tap water near you.
• Carry your reusable bottle on June 19th & Refill on the go (you can use our handy bottle reminder to make sure you don’t leave the house without it).
• Show your support on social media by sharing a photo or video of you with your reusuable bottle. Tag your posts using #NationalRefillDay & @refill / @refillhq
Every time someone refills a bottle rather than throwing a plastic one away, we are reducing the amount of plastic that reaches the ocean.
