National School Sport Week will run from the 24th to 28th June 2019. Last year, this awareness week was a huge success, with schools all over the country taking the time to #CelebratePE.
The first National School Sport Week was in 2008, and since then the initiative has grown with more than 5,000 schools and 1.8 million pupils taking part. The week has partnered with Entertainment One and with the superheroes PJ Masks to add a special Early Years aspect to the week.
The new initiative, called Power of 3, in honour of the PJ Masks trio, will help to encourage more young people to get active and to participate in sport at school, as well as to be more involved with physical activity in general.
In addition to the Early Years aspects, there will be a partnership with The Football Association, which hopes to draw attention to the efforts of the England Lionesses at the UEFA Women’s Euros last year to get schools, teachers and young girls involved in football and to further the future of women’s football long term. The National School Sports Week is a great way of getting boys and girls to experiment with different kinds of sport.
