Raising children can be very complicated for new parents. It must seem like those offering advice are constantly changing their minds. This is because the human race is constantly growing, learning new things and adapting along the way. Weaning your baby is one area that has changed a lot over the years. So much so that it can be difficult to know what is best for your baby. National Weaning Week is a campaign to help parents decide on the best way forward. It’s another event that has dubious origins. But that doesn’t really matter because there is an important message to share.
The Aim of National Weaning Week
2018 is the first year that this campaign was celebrated. The aim of the event is to provide a network of support for parents raising their babies and about to start weaning. There are a lot of myths surrounding this important stage in raising a child, and information can often be misleading or contradictory. The aim of the week is to provide families with support, advice and help. And show them how easy weaning can be by sharing recipes.
How You Can Take Part
You might have your own weaning stories to share on social media. Simply use the hashtag #WeaningWeek, and your story can be read by a large number of people.
What is Weaning?
Weaning is a stage in your child’s development when solid foods are introduced into their diet. Several decades ago, babies would have been weaned when just a few months old. Nowadays however, the switch tends to happen around the age of six months.
