SUMMARY:Victory In Japan Day 2026
DESCRIPTION:Victory in Japan Day\, also known as V-J Day\, marks the anniversary of Japan’s surrender during World War II\, which effectively ended the war. This day is a time to commemorate the sacrifices made by the Allied forces\, honor the memories of those who lost their lives during the war\, and celebrate the restoration of peace. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the lessons of the war and the importance of fostering international understanding and cooperation. \nWhat is Victory in Japan Day?\nVictory in Japan Day\, commonly referred to as V-J Day\, is the day when Japan formally surrendered to the Allied forces\, bringing World War II to an end. The surrender was announced on August 15\, 1945\, following the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki\, and was formally signed on September 2\, 1945\, aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay. V-J Day is observed to honor the conclusion of the war in the Pacific and to remember the immense human cost of the conflict. \nWhen is Victory in Japan Day?\nVictory in Japan Day is observed on two significant dates: August 15th\, the day Japan announced its surrender\, and September 2nd\, the day the official surrender documents were signed. While August 15th is often recognized as the primary date for V-J Day\, September 2nd is also commemorated\, particularly in the United States\, as the official end of World War II. \nHow to Observe Victory in Japan Day\nThere are several ways to observe and reflect on Victory in Japan Day: \n\nHonor Veterans and the Fallen: Pay tribute to the veterans of World War II by visiting memorials\, attending commemorative ceremonies\, or participating in moments of silence. Many communities hold special events to honor those who served and those who lost their lives during the war.\nLearn About World War II History: Take time to educate yourself about the events leading up to V-J Day\, the impact of the war on different nations\, and the significance of Japan’s surrender. Documentaries\, books\, and museum exhibits can provide valuable insights into this pivotal moment in history.\nReflect on Peace and Reconciliation: Use V-J Day as an opportunity to reflect on the importance of peace\, international cooperation\, and reconciliation. Consider how the lessons of World War II can be applied to promote understanding and prevent future conflicts.\nShare Stories and Memories: If you have family members who lived through World War II\, take the time to listen to their stories and share them with others. Preserving and passing on these personal histories is important for keeping the memory of the war alive for future generations.\nParticipate in Community Events: Many communities host parades\, reenactments\, or other events to commemorate V-J Day. Participating in these activities can be a way to connect with others and collectively honor the significance of the day.\n\nHistory of the Event\nVictory in Japan Day\, or V-J Day\, marks the end of World War II\, one of the deadliest and most widespread conflicts in history. Japan’s surrender came after the Allied forces had achieved significant victories in the Pacific\, and after the United States dropped atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The surrender was announced by Emperor Hirohito on August 15\, 1945\, and the formal signing of the surrender documents took place on September 2\, 1945. V-J Day is remembered as a moment of relief and celebration for the Allied nations\, as well as a solemn reminder of the war’s devastating impact. \nRelevant Hashtags\n\n#VJDay\n#VictoryInJapanDay\n#WWIIHistory\n#Remembrance\n#PeaceAndReconciliation\n\nWhen is Victory In Japan Day 2026?\n\n\n\nYear\nDate\n\n\n\n\n2026\n15 August\n\n\n2027\nTBC\n\n\n2028\nTBC

SUMMARY:National Couples Day
DESCRIPTION:National Couples Day is observed on 18 August each year\, celebrating the strength of romantic partnerships and the everyday commitment that keeps relationships thriving. Unlike Valentine’s Day\, which focuses on grand romantic gestures\, National Couples Day places emphasis on the partnership itself – the shared routines\, mutual support\, and quiet moments that define a lasting bond. \nWhat is National Couples Day?\nNational Couples Day is an annual observance that encourages partners to pause and appreciate their relationship. The day is not tied to any single organisation or governing body\, and its precise origins remain unclear\, though it has been widely observed in the United States since the early 2010s. It is intended for couples of all kinds – married\, engaged\, dating\, and long-distance – and focuses less on material gifts and more on quality time\, communication\, and reconnection. The observance has grown significantly through social media\, where couples share photographs\, memories\, and tributes to their partners each August. \nWhen is National Couples Day?\nNational Couples Day falls on Tuesday\, 18 August 2026. It is observed every year on 18 August\, making it a fixed-date event. \nHow to Celebrate National Couples Day\nThe best way to observe National Couples Day is with intention. Here are some ideas to make the day meaningful: \n\nPlan a screen-free evening – Put away phones\, tablets\, and laptops for the evening. Cook dinner together\, play a board game\, or simply sit and talk without digital distractions.\nRevisit your first date – Return to the restaurant\, park\, or venue where you had your first date. Recreating early memories can reignite the sense of discovery that marked the beginning of your relationship.\nWrite each other a letter – In an age of text messages and quick emails\, a handwritten letter expressing what you appreciate about your partner carries genuine weight.\nTry something new together – Sign up for a cooking class\, pottery workshop\, dance lesson\, or outdoor adventure you have never tried before. Shared new experiences strengthen bonds.\nCreate a memory book – Compile photographs\, ticket stubs\, and mementos from your time together into a physical scrapbook or digital album.\nHave an honest conversation – Use the day as an opportunity to check in with each other. Discuss goals\, dreams\, and anything you have been meaning to talk about.\nVolunteer together – Giving back as a team can deepen your connection. Spend a few hours at a local food bank\, animal shelter\, or community garden.\n\nWhy National Couples Day Matters\nResearch consistently shows that strong\, supportive relationships contribute to better physical and mental health outcomes. A landmark study by Harvard University\, which tracked participants for over 80 years\, found that the quality of close relationships was the single strongest predictor of long-term happiness and health – more influential than wealth\, fame\, or career success. National Couples Day offers a reminder that relationships require ongoing attention and care. The day encourages partners to invest time in their bond\, reinforcing the habits of communication\, appreciation\, and presence that research identifies as the foundation of lasting partnerships. \nHistory of National Couples Day\nThe precise origin of National Couples Day is not well documented. It emerged as a social media-driven observance in the United States around 2010\, with some sources suggesting that a U.S. company initially promoted the date to market relationship-related products. Regardless of its commercial beginnings\, the day quickly took on a life of its own as couples embraced it as a genuine occasion for celebration and reflection. \nNational Couples Day sits alongside a growing calendar of relationship-focused observances\, including Valentine’s Day (14 February) and Singles Awareness Day (15 February). Its August placement gives couples a mid-year moment to celebrate without the pressure and commercialism often associated with February’s romantic holidays. \nNoteworthy Facts About National Couples Day\n\nThe Harvard Study of Adult Development\, one of the longest-running studies of adult life\, found that strong relationships are the strongest predictor of happiness and longevity.\nAccording to the American Psychological Association\, couples who regularly engage in new shared activities report higher levels of relationship satisfaction.\nNational Couples Day has been observed since around 2010\, making it a relatively recent addition to the awareness day calendar.\nThe hashtag #NationalCouplesDay regularly trends on social media each August\, with millions of posts worldwide.\nThe day is distinct from Valentine’s Day in that it focuses on everyday partnership rather than romantic gift-giving.\n\nFrequently Asked Questions\nWhat is National Couples Day?\nNational Couples Day is an annual observance on 18 August that celebrates romantic partnerships of all kinds\, encouraging couples to spend quality time together and appreciate their bond. \nWhen is National Couples Day in 2026?\nNational Couples Day falls on Tuesday\, 18 August 2026. \nHow is National Couples Day different from Valentine’s Day?\nValentine’s Day (14 February) emphasises romantic gestures and gift-giving. SUMMARY:National Aviation Day in the USA 2026
DESCRIPTION:On August 19\, National Aviation Day is celebrated across the United States. It is an annual national observance that honors the development of aviation. \nThe holiday was first observed in 1939\, after the proclamation by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt. August 19 was chosen on purpose because it is the anniversary of Orville Wright’s birthday. Orville was the younger of the Wright brothers\, renowned American aviation pioneers. He was still alive when President first issued the proclamation. \nAlthough National Aviation Day is a federal observance\, it does not have the status of a public holiday. This means that government offices\, educational institutions and businesses stay open on this day. However\, the flag of the United States is required to be displayed on all governmental buildings on the day. \nIndividuals are also encouraged to display national flags on their homes. Some schools organize classroom activities and trips to aviation museums that focus on the history of aviation\, aviation pioneers and achievements of modern aviation.National Aviation Day should not be confused with Pan American Aviation Day\, which is celebrated on December 17 and coincides with Wright Brothers Day. \nWhen is National Aviation Day in the USA 2026?\n\n\n\nYear\nDate\n\n\n\n\n2026\n19 August\n\n\n2027\nTBC\n\n\n2028\nTBC

Unlike dogs\, cats are often less likely to be taken for annual check-ups. Their ability to hide pain or illness means many health issues go unnoticed until they become serious. The day aims to change that by highlighting the importance of early detection\, vaccinations\, dental checks\, and overall wellbeing through professional care. \nIt’s also a chance to break down common myths – like the idea that indoor cats don’t need vet visits – and to promote more compassionate\, informed cat care across the country. \nWhen is National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day?\nNational Take Your Cat to the Vet Day 2026 takes place on Friday\, August 22. While it’s a single-day observance\, many veterinary clinics and animal welfare groups run week-long campaigns or special appointment slots to mark the occasion. Some offer discounts on check-ups or advice sessions for cat guardians who want to learn more about feline health. \nWhy National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day Matters\nCats are masters at masking discomfort. Whether it’s arthritis\, dental pain\, kidney issues or silent infections\, many common conditions go untreated because early signs are so subtle. This day matters because it encourages vigilance and care before there’s a crisis. With regular vet visits\, most issues can be detected early and managed effectively\, often saving on long-term costs and avoiding suffering. \nIt also challenges outdated assumptions. According to the PDSA Animal Wellbeing Report\, one in four cats in the UK hasn’t seen a vet in over a year. That’s a preventable risk – and this day helps close that care gap. \nHow to Get Involved in National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day\nEven if your cat seems perfectly fine\, this is the ideal time to make that vet appointment. Here are some easy ways to take part: \n\nBook a Check-Up: Schedule a routine exam with your local vet. Even a quick visit can catch early signs of illness.\nPrepare for Travel: If your cat dislikes the carrier\, leave it out a few days before the appointment and use treats to create a calm association.\nAsk Questions: Use the visit to talk about vaccines\, flea treatments\, diet\, weight\, or behaviour changes.\nSpread the Word: Share reminders online\, especially if you’re part of a cat-loving community or pet owner group.\nSupport Others: Help an elderly neighbour or someone with mobility issues get their cat to the vet too.\n\nHistory of National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day\nThis event began in the United States but has since gained international attention\, especially in the UK where pet ownership is high and veterinary access continues to evolve. It was established to close the care gap between cats and dogs\, as surveys consistently show that cat owners are less likely to seek veterinary advice unless something is visibly wrong. \nOver time\, the day has become a collaborative effort among vets\, charities\, and cat-focused organisations like Cats Protection and International Cat Care\, who use it to educate and empower cat guardians everywhere. \nNoteworthy Facts About Cat Health\n\nCats over the age of 7 are more likely to develop chronic conditions and benefit most from regular check-ups.\nIndoor cats can still suffer from obesity\, dental disease\, and parasites.\nOnly 45% of cat owners in the UK brush their cat’s teeth or provide dental checks at home.\nWeight gain or subtle behaviour changes are often the first signs something isn’t right.\nCats often hide pain\, which means owners might not notice anything until a condition is advanced.\n\nHashtags\n#TakeYourCatToTheVet\, #CatVetDay2026\, #HealthyCats\, #FelineCare \nLinks\n\nCats Protection – Cat Health Advice\nInternational Cat Care – Feline Welfare Resources\nPDSA – Vet Services and Pet Health Information

SUMMARY:Northern Christmas Week 2026
DESCRIPTION:Christmas is so much more than just a dinner on December 25th. \nChristmas stands for something\, and so do we. That’s why we’re launching The Northern Christmas Week to support northern businesses and individuals that missed out on more than just Christmas day. \nWe’re making 16th – 22nd August 2021 the new Christmas 2020. \nLet’s be honest – after the year 2020 turned out to be and with 2021 not starting off much better\, we all need a good dose of that festive cheer. But\, we’re bringing people back together with the spirit of Christmas\, AND giving local businesses a festive boost. \nSure\, we did our best to keep the office Christmas party alive – we’re Northerners\, after all. But while we were forced to party as best we could over Zoom\, our hospitality industry faced over £700m in losses from a lack of Christmas office parties alone. And let’s not even talk about the biggest annual decline of retail sales on record that happened in 2020. \nThat’s why up North we’re declaring 16th – 22nd August 2021 the new Christmas 2020 and we want you to join us! \nThe Northern Christmas is our way of giving back and helping the hospitality industry bounce back – and an excuse for a good knees up. \nIt’s for the Christmas lovers that didn’t get the festive season they deserved. It’s for the person who puts their tree up straight after Halloween. The organisational wizard that has every gift bought and wrapped by Autumn. The social butterfly that dedicates the whole of November to attending every Christmas bash they can wangle an invite to. \nIt’s for the proud owner of an independent retailer that missed out on the Christmas rush. It’s for the bar manager that never got to showcase their ridiculously glittery Christmas cocktail. The restaurant owner that couldn’t wait to welcome every extended\, dysfunctional and downright bonkers family through their doors to make Christmas dinner memories that last a lifetime. \nIt’s for everyone who doesn’t believe Christmas 2020 should be a write-off\, just because it didn’t happen on December 25th. \nLet’s make August 2021 a Northern Christmas we’ll never forget. \nHowever you choose to celebrate\, we want to hear about it. Let us know how you’re celebrating and supporting your local businesses on social media\, using the hashtag #MyNorthernChristmas \nWant to celebrate directly with us? We’re hosting a PARTY too! SUMMARY:National Plum Day 2026
DESCRIPTION:National Plum Day will be celebrated for the third time in 2020 as part of Pershore Plum Festival’s month-long festivities throughout August. \nPlums have become a forgotten fruit and it is hoped National Plum Day will start to make people rethink the perfection of plums. They’re great value\, work in sweet or savoury dishes or eaten as a snack and are bursting with vitamins and anti-oxidants. \nThe Plum Festival \nAt the Pershore Flower Show in 1920\, a poster advertising the event described it as The Largest Plum Show on Earth and over ninety years later the town is striving to recreate this spectacle. The Plum Fayre was resurrected in 1996 by local environmentalist\, David Shaw and local historian\, Marion Freeman\, to help raise the awareness and profile of the market town of Pershore and its association with plums. \nNow an annual event\, Pershore holds a Plum Festival throughout the month of August\, when the town will turn plum crazy and the grand finale of this festival will be the Plum Fayre and Farmers Market on August Bank Holiday Monday. \nWith the whole town turning purple and offering something for all the family\, the Plum Fayre is definitely the place to visit for a fruity experience. \nWhen is National Plum Day 2026?\n\n\n\nYear\nDate\n\n\n\n\n2026\n23 August\n\n\n2027\nTBC\n\n\n2028\nTBC

SUMMARY:National Dog Day 2026
DESCRIPTION:Every year on August 26\, National Dog Day celebrates the bond between humans and dogs while spotlighting the many dogs still in need of a loving home. It’s a day for dog lovers to honor their furry companions\, advocate for better treatment of animals\, and support rescue and adoption efforts. Whether your best friend has been with you for years or you’re just beginning your journey together\, National Dog Day is about recognizing the role dogs play in our lives – and how we can give back. \nWhat is National Dog Day?\nNational Dog Day is a celebration of all dogs – mixed breed and pure. Founded in 2004 by pet advocate Colleen Paige\, the day was created not only to honor dogs for their companionship\, loyalty\, and bravery\, but also to raise awareness about the large number of dogs that need to be rescued every year. The day calls attention to dogs in shelters\, the importance of adoption\, and issues like puppy mills\, breed-specific legislation\, and animal cruelty. From service dogs and working dogs to family pets and strays\, National Dog Day embraces them all. \nWhen is National Dog Day?\nNational Dog Day is held on August 26 every year. The date was chosen to commemorate the day Colleen Paige’s family adopted her first dog when she was 10 years old. It’s a fixed date\, which means it falls on different days of the week each year – in 2026\, it will be on a Tuesday. People celebrate in many ways\, from adoption events and dog-themed fundraisers to sharing stories and photos online. \nWhy National Dog Day Matters\nDogs do so much for us – they offer companionship\, reduce stress\, assist people with disabilities\, serve in search and rescue\, and even help detect health issues. Yet\, millions of dogs are abandoned\, abused\, or euthanized each year due to neglect\, overbreeding\, or lack of resources. National Dog Day shines a light on these realities while celebrating the joy dogs bring. It’s about respect\, responsibility\, and making a difference – one paw at a time. \nHow to Get Involved in National Dog Day\nWhether you’re a dog owner or not\, there are countless ways to participate: \n\nAdopt or Foster: If you’re ready\, consider adopting from a shelter or fostering a dog in need.\nVolunteer: Offer your time at a local shelter or rescue organization.\nDonate: Contribute supplies\, food\, or funds to animal charities and shelters.\nRaise Awareness: Share posts about adoptable dogs\, responsible pet ownership\, and rescue stories.\nSpoil Your Dog: Take them on an adventure\, bake homemade treats\, or spend extra cuddle time together.\nSupport Ethical Brands: Choose pet products from companies that give back to animal welfare.\n\nHistory of National Dog Day\nColleen Paige\, a pet lifestyle expert and animal advocate\, founded National Dog Day in 2004 with the aim of celebrating dogs and encouraging adoption. She has also launched other awareness days like National Cat Day and National Puppy Day. Over the years\, National Dog Day has grown into a global movement\, recognized by animal lovers and organizations worldwide. It’s even been adopted by several states in the U.S. as an official holiday. \nNoteworthy Facts About National Dog Day\n\nApproximately 3.1 million dogs enter U.S. shelters every year\, according to the ASPCA.\nNational Dog Day has been adopted into legislation by New York State as an official observance.\nThe day supports all dog breeds and encourages people to learn about breed-specific rescues.\nNational Dog Day’s official website offers certificates of adoption and ideas for celebrating.\nMany celebrities and influencers use the day to promote adoption and highlight shelter dogs.\n\nHashtags\n#NationalDogDay\, #DogDay2026\, #AdoptDontShop \nLinks\n\nVisit the official National Dog Day site\nASPCA – Adopt a Pet\nThe Shelter Pet Project

SUMMARY:National Petroleum Day 2026
DESCRIPTION:At the end of the summer on August 27th\, Americans celebrate National Petroleum Day. \nThe day is celebrated by many working in the oil and gas industries\, and used as a platform to gather and discuss the may issues that face the industry. Crude oil and other liquids produced from fossil fuels are refined into petroleum products that people use for many different purposes. Biofuels\, such as ethanol and biodiesel\, are also used as petroleum products\, mainly in mixtures with gasoline and diesel fuel \nPetroleum was discovered by Edwin L. Drake on August 27\, 1858 in Titusville\, Pennsylvania. He struck oil 70 feet beneath the surface in Titusville\, thus launching the modern-day petroleum industry in the USA. This event is very important for the history of Titusville\, because since the discovery of crude oil the region became prosperous. \nAlthough used for many different types of product in many different industries\, we need to consider the fact the world will eventually run out of petrol reserves and we therefore need to find kinder alternatives and substitutes. A highly contentious issue\, this is a subject that we should not ignore and continue to learn more about. \nYou could get involved in the day by considering what products you use in your lives that use petroleum and attempting to find kinder alternatives. You could also research more about the effect on the world our petroleum consumption has\, and what is being done in your areas to minimise and risks. \nWhen is National Petroleum Day 2026?\n\n\n\nYear\nDate\n\n\n\n\n2026\n27 August\n\n\n2027\nTBC\n\n\n2028\nTBC

SUMMARY:Wear It Purple Day 2026
DESCRIPTION:Wear It Purple Day\, celebrated on August 29\, 2026\, is an annual Australian event dedicated to supporting LGBTQIA+ youth by promoting acceptance\, inclusivity\, and visibility. This vibrant initiative encourages individuals\, schools\, workplaces\, and communities to wear purple to demonstrate their commitment to fostering safe\, empowering\, and inclusive environments for young people who identify as lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, transgender\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, or otherwise gender and sexually diverse. The 2026 theme\, “Bold Voices\, Bright Futures\,” highlights the significance of uplifting young voices and advocating for positive change to ensure bright futures for all LGBTQIA+ youth. \nWhat is Wear It Purple Day?\nWear It Purple Day was established in 2010 as a response to several tragic incidents of bullying and harassment directed at LGBTQIA+ youth\, notably the suicide of Tyler Clementi\, a teenager from the United States. Founders Katherine Hudson and Scott Williams initiated Wear It Purple Day to show young LGBTQIA+ individuals worldwide that there is hope\, support\, and acceptance in their communities. Now widely recognised throughout Australia and increasingly internationally\, this initiative serves as a visible demonstration of allyship\, inclusion\, and celebration of diversity. \nWhen is Wear It Purple Day?\nWear It Purple Day is held annually on the last Friday in August. In 2026\, this falls on August 29. The event aligns with the school calendar to maximise engagement and participation among young people and educational institutions across Australia. \nWhy Wear It Purple Day Matters\nThe importance of Wear It Purple Day extends beyond symbolic acts of wearing purple. LGBTQIA+ young people often face heightened risks of discrimination\, bullying\, exclusion\, and mental health challenges. Wear It Purple Day seeks to address these issues proactively by fostering greater understanding\, visibility\, and acceptance\, thereby creating safer spaces in educational settings\, workplaces\, and the broader community. The day is crucial in advocating for systemic changes\, greater awareness\, and inclusivity policies that protect and empower LGBTQIA+ youth. \n2026 Theme: “Bold Voices\, Bright Futures”\nThe 2026 theme\, “Bold Voices\, Bright Futures\,” places emphasis on amplifying the voices and experiences of LGBTQIA+ youth. The theme underscores the value of young people speaking up\, expressing their identities freely\, and advocating for their rights and wellbeing. SUMMARY:National Toasted Marshmallow Day 2026
DESCRIPTION:What is National Toasted Marshmallow Day?\nNational Toasted Marshmallow Day is celebrated on 30 August each year and is dedicated to one of the most beloved sweet treats in confectionery. The day celebrates the simple pleasure of toasting marshmallows\, whether over a campfire under the stars\, on a barbecue grill\, or even under the kitchen grill at home. It is a lighthearted occasion that brings together families and friends to enjoy a treat that has been delighting people for generations. \nWhen is National Toasted Marshmallow Day?\nNational Toasted Marshmallow Day falls on 30 August every year. In 2026\, it takes place on Sunday 30 August. \n\n\n\nYear\nDate\nDay\n\n\n\n\n2026\n30 August\nSunday\n\n\n2027\n30 August\nMonday\n\n\n2028\n30 August\nWednesday\n\n\n\nThe History of Marshmallows\nThe history of the marshmallow stretches back thousands of years to ancient Egypt\, where the confection was first created using sap extracted from the root of the marshmallow plant\, Althaea officinalis. This wild plant grows in marshes and wetlands\, which is how the sweet eventually got its name. In ancient Egypt\, marshmallow was considered a delicacy reserved for royalty and the gods\, and the plant’s root was also used for its medicinal properties\, particularly to soothe sore throats and treat wounds. \nThe marshmallow as we know it today evolved significantly from those early origins. French confectioners in the 19th century began whipping the marshmallow root sap with sugar and egg whites to create a light\, fluffy sweet. By the late 1800s\, as demand grew\, manufacturers started replacing the plant extract with gelatin\, which made production easier and more consistent. The modern marshmallow\, typically made from sugar\, gelatin\, and corn starch\, bears little botanical resemblance to its ancient ancestor but remains one of the world’s most popular confections. \nA pivotal moment in marshmallow history came in 1927\, when the extrusion process was introduced. This manufacturing method involved pushing marshmallow mixture through tubes\, allowing for mass production and making the treat widely affordable and accessible for the first time. Today\, Americans alone purchase approximately 90 million pounds of marshmallows every year. \nThe Art of Toasting Marshmallows\nToasting marshmallows is an activity that has become synonymous with outdoor gatherings\, camping trips\, and summer evenings. When held over an open flame\, the sugars on the outside of the marshmallow caramelise\, creating a golden or lightly charred outer skin with a warm\, molten layer underneath. Achieving the perfect toast is considered something of an art form\, with enthusiasts debating whether a gentle golden colour or a bolder\, slightly blackened finish is the ideal. \nThe most famous marshmallow-based treat is the s’more\, a campfire classic particularly popular in the United States and Canada. A s’more consists of a toasted marshmallow and a piece of chocolate sandwiched between two graham crackers. The name is a contraction of “some more\,” reflecting the irresistible nature of the combination. While the exact origin of the s’more is unclear\, the earliest known recipe appeared in the 1927 edition of Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts. \nBeyond the campfire\, toasted marshmallows feature in a wide range of desserts and recipes. They can be used as a topping for hot chocolate\, incorporated into rocky road and fudge\, melted into crispy rice treats\, or used as a filling for doughnuts and pastries. Marshmallow fluff\, a spreadable version of the confection\, is another popular variation that can be used as a topping or ingredient in baking. \nHow to Celebrate\nThe most traditional way to celebrate National Toasted Marshmallow Day is to build a campfire\, grab a bag of marshmallows and some skewers\, and enjoy toasting them with friends and family. If a campfire is not practical\, a barbecue grill\, a kitchen blowtorch\, or even a grill setting on the oven can achieve similar results. \nFor a more creative celebration\, you can try making s’mores with different types of chocolate or biscuits\, experiment with dipping toasted marshmallows in melted chocolate or caramel\, or attempt marshmallow-topped brownies or a toasted marshmallow milkshake. The day is also a good excuse to try making marshmallows from scratch\, which allows you to experiment with flavours such as vanilla\, rose\, peppermint\, or even salted caramel. \nShare your toasted marshmallow creations on social media and join in the celebration with fellow marshmallow enthusiasts around the world. \n#NationalToastedMarshmallowDay #ToastedMarshmallow #Smores
