SUMMARY:Movember 2026 - Men's Health Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:Movember 2026 takes place throughout the entire month of November\, uniting millions of people around the world to grow moustaches\, raise awareness\, and fund life-changing projects for men’s health. What started as a fun idea among friends in Australia has grown into a global movement tackling some of the biggest health challenges facing men today – from prostate and testicular cancer to mental health and suicide prevention. Movember is more than facial hair – it’s about starting conversations that save lives. \nWhat is Movember?\nMovember is an annual awareness campaign encouraging men to grow moustaches during November to raise funds and spark discussions about men’s health. The movement was founded in 2003 by two friends in Melbourne\, Australia\, who challenged 30 mates to grow a moustache for charity. The idea caught on quickly\, and by 2004\, the group had formed the Movember Foundation\, officially linking the effort to men’s health causes. \nSince then\, Movember has become one of the most recognized health campaigns in the world\, active in over 20 countries. Participants – affectionately known as “Mo Bros” and “Mo Sisters” – raise funds through sponsorships\, events\, and social media campaigns. The funds support groundbreaking research\, community health programs\, and global initiatives designed to help men live happier\, healthier\, and longer lives. \nWhen is Movember 2026?\nMovember 2026 runs from Saturday\, November 1 through Sunday\, November 30. The campaign lasts the entire month\, giving participants plenty of time to grow their moustaches\, host fundraising events\, and engage their communities. The movement officially begins on the first day of November\, often celebrated with “Shave the Date” events\, where participants start clean-shaven before beginning their moustache journey. \nThroughout November\, Movember overlaps with other global awareness efforts like Black Friday and Cyber Week\, but it stands apart as a cause-driven campaign. Instead of shopping for deals\, Movember asks people to invest in awareness\, action\, and real change. \nWhy Movember Matters\nMen are facing a health crisis that often goes unnoticed. On average\, men die four to five years earlier than women\, and many of these deaths are preventable. Suicide remains the leading cause of death among men aged 15–49\, and millions more battle untreated mental health conditions. Cancers like prostate and testicular cancer affect millions each year\, yet stigma and silence often prevent early detection and treatment. \nMovember addresses this crisis head-on by funding initiatives that encourage men to talk\, seek help\, and take charge of their wellbeing. It’s about changing attitudes\, breaking down stigma\, and creating environments where men feel safe to discuss their health. Every moustache becomes a conversation starter – and every conversation can lead to a life saved. \nHow to Get Involved in Movember 2026\nAnyone can take part in Movember – you don’t need to grow facial hair to make an impact. There are many creative and meaningful ways to get involved: \n\nGrow a Mo: Start clean-shaven on November 1 and grow your moustache all month long. Use it as a conversation starter to raise awareness and donations.\nMove for Movember: Commit to walking or running 60 kilometers over the month to represent the 60 men lost to suicide every hour worldwide.\nHost a Mo-ment: Organize an event at work\, school\, or in your community to spread awareness and fundraise for men’s health causes.\nMo Your Own Way: Take on a creative challenge or personal goal – from cycling to cooking – and use it to raise funds.\nDonate or Sponsor: Support friends\, family\, or colleagues taking part by donating through official Movember pages.\nTalk About It: Start a conversation about mental health\, routine check-ups\, or lifestyle habits with the men in your life. Listening can make all the difference.\n\nHistory of Movember\nMovember began in Melbourne\, Australia\, in 2003 when friends Travis Garone and Luke Slattery decided to bring moustaches back into fashion for a good cause. That first year\, 30 men grew moustaches to raise awareness for men’s health. The following year\, they partnered with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and officially launched the Movember Foundation. \nThe campaign spread quickly across continents\, reaching New Zealand\, the UK\, Canada\, and eventually the U.S. By the 2010s\, Movember had become a global symbol of men’s health advocacy. The foundation has since funded over 1\,300 health projects worldwide\, focusing on early detection\, prevention\, and mental wellbeing. Movember’s success lies in its simplicity – a moustache that sparks conversation and action. \nMovember’s Global Impact\nSince its founding\, Movember has raised more than $1 billion AUD for men’s health initiatives. These funds have been used to support cutting-edge research\, innovative mental health programs\, and community-based interventions. The foundation’s impact spans multiple focus areas: \n\nProstate Cancer Research: Supporting early detection programs and advanced treatments for men diagnosed with prostate cancer.\nTesticular Cancer Awareness: Promoting education and self-check practices for early diagnosis.\nMental Health and Suicide Prevention: Funding programs that reduce isolation\, encourage open conversations\, and connect men with professional support.\nGlobal Collaboration: Partnering with universities\, hospitals\, and organizations to improve health outcomes for men everywhere.\n\nMovember in the Modern Era\nAs the movement grows\, Movember continues to evolve with the times. Social media has amplified its reach\, with millions of posts and campaigns shared across platforms. Corporate workplaces\, sports teams\, and universities hold annual Mo-themed fundraisers. The rise of digital health tools has also allowed Movember to support online counseling\, virtual check-ins\, and mental health education programs\, breaking down barriers to access. \nMore recently\, Movember has also championed intersectional health – ensuring that men from diverse backgrounds\, including Indigenous\, LGBTQ+\, and minority communities\, have equitable access to health support and culturally safe care. \nNoteworthy Facts About Movember\n\nMovember was founded in Melbourne\, Australia\, in 2003 by two friends and 30 participants.\nMore than 6 million people have participated in Movember globally since its inception.\nThe Movember Foundation has funded over 1\,300 men’s health projects in more than 20 countries.\nEach participant who walks 60 kilometers honors the 60 men lost to suicide every hour around the world.\nMovember’s iconic moustache logo has become a universal symbol for men’s health awareness.\n\nHashtags\n#Movember2026\, #MensHealth\, #GrowAMoSaveABro\, #ProstateCancerAwareness\, #MentalHealthMatters\, #MoYourOwnWay \nLinks\n\nOfficial Movember Foundation Website\nAbout the Movember Foundation\nCancer Council Australia – Men’s Health Resources\nMental Health Foundation – Men’s Mental Health Support

SUMMARY:National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month takes place every November across the United States. Established by presidential proclamation in 1983\, the month-long observance raises awareness about Alzheimer’s disease\, the most common form of dementia\, and highlights the urgent need for research\, support for caregivers\, and early diagnosis. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month?\n\n\n\n\nNational Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month is a federally recognised health observance dedicated to increasing public understanding of Alzheimer’s disease\, its impact on individuals and families\, and the resources available to those affected. The observance is supported by organisations including the Alzheimer’s Association\, the Administration for Community Living (ACL)\, and the National Institute on Aging. Throughout November\, hospitals\, research institutions\, advocacy groups\, and community organisations host educational events\, fundraisers\, and awareness campaigns designed to reduce stigma and encourage early detection. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhen is National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month?\n\n\n\n\nNational Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month runs from Saturday\, 1 November to Monday\, 30 November 2026. It is observed annually throughout the entire month of November and has been held on these dates since its inception in 1983. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhy National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month Matters\n\n\n\n\nAlzheimer’s disease affects an estimated 6.9 million Americans aged 65 and older\, a number projected to reach nearly 13 million by 2050 if no medical breakthroughs occur. The disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States and kills more people than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. Beyond the individuals living with the diagnosis\, approximately 11 million Americans serve as unpaid caregivers for someone with Alzheimer’s or another dementia\, providing an estimated 18 billion hours of care valued at over $340 billion annually. The emotional\, physical\, and financial toll on families is immense\, and this month provides a vital platform to push for greater funding\, better support systems\, and accelerated research into treatments and prevention. \n\n\n\n\n\nHow to Get Involved in National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month\n\n\n\n\nThere are many meaningful ways to participate in Alzheimer’s awareness efforts throughout November: \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nWear purple – Purple is the official colour of Alzheimer’s awareness. Wearing a purple ribbon or clothing throughout November signals your support and can start conversations about the disease with friends\, colleagues\, and neighbours.\n\n\n \n\nEducate yourself about warning signs – Learn the 10 early signs of Alzheimer’s disease published by the Alzheimer’s Association\, including memory loss that disrupts daily life\, difficulty planning or solving problems\, and confusion with time or place. Early detection leads to better care planning.\n\n\n \n\nDonate to Alzheimer’s research – Organisations such as the Alzheimer’s Association\, the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation\, and the National Institute on Aging fund critical studies. Even small contributions support the search for treatments and eventually a cure.\n\n\n \n\nVolunteer with local support groups – Many communities run Alzheimer’s caregiver support groups that welcome volunteers to assist with logistics\, provide companionship\, or simply listen. Contact your local Alzheimer’s Association chapter to find groups near you.\n\n\n \n\nParticipate in a Walk to End Alzheimer’s – The Alzheimer’s Association organises walks in communities nationwide. These events raise both funds and awareness while bringing together families\, caregivers\, and advocates in a shared mission.\n\n\n \n\nSupport a caregiver – If someone you know cares for a person with Alzheimer’s\, offer practical help such as preparing a meal\, running errands\, or simply spending time so the caregiver can rest. Caregiver burnout is a serious issue\, and small gestures make a real difference.\n\n\n \n\nShare information on social media – Post facts\, personal stories\, or resources about Alzheimer’s disease using the hashtags #AlzheimersAwareness and #ENDALZ. Raising visibility online reaches people who may not encounter awareness campaigns elsewhere.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHistory of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month\n\n\n\n\nIn 1983\, President Ronald Reagan issued the first presidential proclamation designating November as National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month. At that time\, fewer than 2 million Americans had been diagnosed with the disease\, and public understanding of Alzheimer’s was limited. The proclamation aimed to draw attention to a condition that was often misunderstood\, frequently dismissed as normal ageing\, and deeply stigmatised. \n\n\n\n\nThe timing proved to be deeply poignant. In 1994\, President Reagan himself revealed his own Alzheimer’s diagnosis in a handwritten letter to the American people\, bringing unprecedented public attention to the disease. His disclosure helped to humanise the condition and galvanised support for research funding. In the decades since\, the observance has grown from a modest awareness week into a month-long national campaign supported by federal agencies\, healthcare providers\, and advocacy organisations across the country. \n\n\n\n\nThe Alzheimer’s Association\, founded in 1980\, has been instrumental in expanding the observance’s reach. Their efforts have helped secure billions of dollars in federal research funding\, and in 2011 the National Alzheimer’s Project Act was signed into law\, creating the first national strategic plan to address the disease. Today\, the awareness month serves not only as a time for education but also as a rallying point for policy advocacy and scientific progress. \n\n\n\n\n\nNoteworthy Facts About Alzheimer’s Disease\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nAlzheimer’s disease was first identified in 1906 by German psychiatrist Dr Alois Alzheimer\, who described unusual changes in the brain tissue of a woman who had died of an unusual mental illness.\n\n\n \n\nTwo-thirds of Americans with Alzheimer’s are women\, and researchers are still working to understand why the disease disproportionately affects women.\n\n\n \n\nAlzheimer’s is the only disease among the top 10 causes of death in the United States that cannot be prevented\, slowed\, or cured\, though several treatments have been approved in recent years that target amyloid plaques in the brain.\n\n\n \n\nThe total cost of caring for people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias in the US is estimated at over $360 billion annually\, not including the value of unpaid caregiving.\n\n\n \n\nEvery 65 seconds\, someone in the United States develops Alzheimer’s disease\, according to Alzheimer’s Association estimates.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month?\n\n\n\n\nNational Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month is a November observance in the United States that promotes understanding of Alzheimer’s disease\, supports caregivers\, and encourages research funding to find treatments and a cure. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhen is National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month in 2026?\n\n\n\n\nNational Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month runs throughout November 2026\, from Sunday\, 1 November to Monday\, 30 November. \n\n\n\n\n\nWho started National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month?\n\n\n\n\nPresident Ronald Reagan proclaimed the first National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month in November 1983. SUMMARY:National Epilepsy Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:National Epilepsy Awareness Month is observed every November across the United States\, dedicated to raising awareness about epilepsy\, reducing stigma\, and supporting the millions of people living with seizure disorders. Led by the Epilepsy Foundation and supported by medical organisations\, advocacy groups\, and communities nationwide\, the month encourages education\, early diagnosis\, and better access to treatment. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is National Epilepsy Awareness Month?\n\n\n\n\nNational Epilepsy Awareness Month (NEAM) is a month-long observance that shines a light on epilepsy\, the fourth most common neurological disorder in the world. The campaign is primarily coordinated by the Epilepsy Foundation\, which works throughout November to educate the public about seizure recognition\, first aid\, treatment options\, and the daily realities faced by people with epilepsy. NEAM also aims to combat the persistent myths and discrimination that many people with the condition encounter in schools\, workplaces\, and public life. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhen is National Epilepsy Awareness Month?\n\n\n\n\nNational Epilepsy Awareness Month runs from Sunday\, 1 November to Monday\, 30 November 2026. It has been observed annually throughout November since its formal congressional designation in 2003\, though awareness efforts in November date back to 1969. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhy National Epilepsy Awareness Month Matters\n\n\n\n\nEpilepsy affects approximately 3.4 million people in the United States\, including 470\,000 children. Globally\, around 50 million people live with the condition. One in 26 Americans will develop epilepsy at some point in their lifetime\, and one in 10 will experience a seizure. Despite its prevalence\, epilepsy remains widely misunderstood. Many people do not know how to respond when someone has a seizure\, and outdated beliefs about the condition contribute to social isolation and workplace discrimination. NEAM provides a critical opportunity to replace fear and ignorance with facts\, empathy\, and practical knowledge that can save lives. Additionally\, Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP) claims the lives of roughly 1 in 1\,000 people with epilepsy each year\, underscoring the need for greater research and public awareness. \n\n\n\n\n\nHow to Get Involved in National Epilepsy Awareness Month\n\n\n\n\nWhether you live with epilepsy yourself or want to support those who do\, there are several ways to make a difference during November: \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nLearn seizure first aid – The Epilepsy Foundation offers free online training on how to recognise and safely respond to a seizure. Knowing what to do (and what not to do) can prevent injury and potentially save a life. Never put anything in the mouth of someone having a seizure.\n\n\n \n\nWear purple for epilepsy – Purple is the international colour of epilepsy awareness\, inspired by the lavender flower which represents solitude\, a common feeling among those with the condition. Cassidy Megan of Nova Scotia\, Canada\, who lives with epilepsy\, created the purple day movement to encourage open conversation.\n\n\n \n\nShare your story – If you or a family member lives with epilepsy\, sharing your experience can help others feel less alone and challenge public misconceptions. The Epilepsy Foundation encourages personal stories through their online community and social media channels.\n\n\n \n\nDonate to epilepsy research – Organisations like CURE Epilepsy and the Epilepsy Foundation fund cutting-edge research into seizure prevention\, genetic therapies\, and improved treatments. Donations of any size contribute to advancing understanding of the condition.\n\n\n \n\nAdvocate for seizure action plans in schools – Children with epilepsy often face challenges at school. Encourage your local school district to adopt seizure action plans and ensure that teachers and staff receive basic seizure first aid training.\n\n\n \n\nHost a purple awareness event – Organise a fundraiser\, bake sale\, or community walk where participants wear purple. These events raise both funds and visibility while building community support for those living with epilepsy.\n\n\n \n\nCorrect misinformation when you hear it – Many people still hold outdated beliefs about epilepsy\, such as the myth that people with epilepsy cannot drive\, work\, or lead full lives. When you encounter these misconceptions\, calmly share accurate information to help shift attitudes.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHistory of National Epilepsy Awareness Month\n\n\n\n\nThe roots of epilepsy awareness in November stretch back to 1969\, when the Epilepsy Foundation first established November as a focal month for public education about the condition. At the time\, epilepsy carried enormous social stigma\, and people with the condition were routinely excluded from educational and employment opportunities. The Foundation’s early campaigns focused on dispelling myths and encouraging medical treatment. \n\n\n\n\nIn 2003\, the United States Congress formally declared November as National Epilepsy Awareness Month\, giving the observance official recognition and broader reach. The congressional designation helped to increase media coverage and encouraged healthcare providers\, schools\, and employers to participate in awareness activities. The Epilepsy Foundation’s annual campaigns have since tackled themes ranging from seizure first aid education to mental health support for people with epilepsy. \n\n\n\n\nThe purple ribbon\, now synonymous with epilepsy awareness\, gained international prominence through Cassidy Megan’s Purple Day initiative\, launched on 26 March 2008. While Epilepsy Action’s annual events in the UK complement the American awareness efforts\, November remains the primary month for epilepsy education in the United States\, with thousands of events held nationwide each year. \n\n\n\n\n\nNoteworthy Facts About Epilepsy\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nEpilepsy is the fourth most common neurological disorder\, after migraine\, stroke\, and Alzheimer’s disease\, affecting people of all ages\, races\, and ethnic backgrounds.\n\n\n \n\nApproximately 70% of people with epilepsy can achieve seizure freedom with proper medication\, though the remaining 30% have treatment-resistant epilepsy that may require surgery or other interventions.\n\n\n \n\nHistorical figures believed to have had epilepsy include Julius Caesar\, Alexander the Great\, Napoleon Bonaparte\, and the author Fyodor Dostoevsky.\n\n\n \n\nThere are over 40 different types of seizures\, and not all involve convulsions. Absence seizures\, for instance\, may look like brief episodes of staring or daydreaming.\n\n\n \n\nThe annual cost of epilepsy in the United States is estimated at $28 billion\, including direct medical costs and indirect costs such as lost productivity.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is National Epilepsy Awareness Month?\n\n\n\n\nNational Epilepsy Awareness Month is a November observance in the United States that raises awareness about epilepsy\, promotes seizure first aid education\, and supports research into treatments and a cure for seizure disorders. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhen is National Epilepsy Awareness Month in 2026?\n\n\n\n\nNational Epilepsy Awareness Month runs throughout November 2026\, from Sunday\, 1 November to Monday\, 30 November. \n\n\n\n\n\nHow did National Epilepsy Awareness Month start?\n\n\n\n\nThe Epilepsy Foundation first designated November for epilepsy awareness in 1969. The U.S. Congress officially declared November as National Epilepsy Awareness Month in 2003\, formalising decades of advocacy and education. \n\n\n\n\n\nSpread the Word\n\n\n\n\nHelp raise awareness by sharing National Epilepsy Awareness Month with your friends\, family\, and followers. SUMMARY:Bladder Health Month
DESCRIPTION:Bladder Health Month is observed every November in the United States\, dedicated to raising awareness about common bladder conditions\, encouraging preventive care\, and empowering people to seek help for urinary health concerns. Established in 2016 by the Urology Care Foundation and the Bladder Health Alliance\, the month-long campaign educates the public about conditions that affect tens of millions of Americans yet are rarely discussed openly. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is Bladder Health Month?\n\n\n\n\nBladder Health Month is a November health observance recognised by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The campaign is led by the Urology Care Foundation\, the official foundation of the American Urological Association (AUA)\, alongside the Bladder Health Alliance\, a coalition of patient advocacy groups. Throughout November\, these organisations work to educate individuals about bladder health conditions including overactive bladder\, urinary incontinence\, bladder cancer\, interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome\, urinary tract infections (UTIs)\, neurogenic bladder\, and nocturia. The observance aims to break the silence surrounding these conditions\, which often cause embarrassment and prevent people from seeking treatment. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhen is Bladder Health Month?\n\n\n\n\nBladder Health Month runs from Sunday\, 1 November to Monday\, 30 November 2026. It is observed annually throughout November and has been held each year since its establishment in 2016. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhy Bladder Health Month Matters\n\n\n\n\nBladder conditions affect a staggering number of people\, yet many suffer in silence due to embarrassment or the misconception that symptoms are simply a normal part of ageing. More than 33 million Americans have overactive bladder\, roughly 1 in 10 people. One in two women over the age of 65 experience stress urinary incontinence. Bladder cancer is the sixth most common cancer in the United States. An estimated 3 to 8 million women and 1 to 4 million men experience symptoms of interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome. Nocturia\, the need to urinate frequently during the night\, affects 1 in 3 adults over the age of 30. The collective economic burden of bladder diseases in the United States exceeds $70 billion annually. Bladder Health Month provides a vital platform to normalise conversations about urinary health\, promote early diagnosis\, and connect people with effective treatments that can dramatically improve quality of life. \n\n\n\n\n\nHow to Get Involved in Bladder Health Month\n\n\n\n\nBladder health affects everyone\, and there are several ways to participate in and support this awareness month: \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nLearn about bladder health – Visit the Urology Care Foundation website to access free educational materials about common bladder conditions\, their symptoms\, and treatment options. Understanding the basics of bladder health is the first step toward prevention and early detection.\n\n\n \n\nTalk to your doctor – If you experience urinary symptoms such as frequent urination\, urgency\, pain\, or leakage\, schedule an appointment with your GP or urologist. Many people delay seeking help for years\, but most bladder conditions are highly treatable.\n\n\n \n\nPractice bladder-friendly habits – Stay well hydrated with water\, limit caffeine and alcohol intake\, maintain a healthy weight\, do pelvic floor exercises (Kegel exercises)\, and avoid smoking\, which is a major risk factor for bladder cancer.\n\n\n \n\nShare information with family and friends – Many people are unaware that their symptoms are treatable. By sharing bladder health resources\, you may help someone recognise that they do not have to live with discomfort or embarrassment.\n\n\n \n\nSupport bladder health research – Donate to the Urology Care Foundation\, the Interstitial Cystitis Association\, or the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN) to fund research into better treatments and\, ultimately\, cures for bladder conditions.\n\n\n \n\nParticipate in awareness events – The Urology Care Foundation and local urology practices often host community events\, webinars\, and screening days during November. Check with your local hospital or urology clinic for programmes in your area.\n\n\n \n\nUse social media to break the stigma – Share facts about bladder health conditions using the hashtag #BladderHealthMonth. Normalising these conversations online helps others feel comfortable seeking the help they need.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHistory of Bladder Health Month\n\n\n\n\nBladder Health Month was established in November 2016 by the American Urological Association (AUA) and its official foundation\, the Urology Care Foundation. The initiative was developed in partnership with the Bladder Health Alliance\, a coalition of patient advocacy organisations including the Interstitial Cystitis Association\, the National Association for Continence\, and the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network. \n\n\n\n\nThe Urology Care Foundation is officially recognised by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as the sponsor of this National Health Observance. The creation of a dedicated awareness month was driven by the recognition that bladder conditions\, despite their enormous prevalence\, were chronically under-discussed in public health campaigns. Many people with bladder symptoms waited years before seeking medical advice\, often because they believed their condition was untreatable or simply an inevitable part of ageing. \n\n\n\n\nSince its launch\, Bladder Health Month has grown to include partnerships with healthcare providers\, hospitals\, and community organisations across the country. Each year\, the campaign adopts a specific theme designed to address different aspects of bladder health\, from myth-busting about common conditions to highlighting the link between lifestyle choices and bladder function. The initiative has helped to shift public discourse\, making it increasingly acceptable to discuss urinary health openly and seek early treatment\, much as other awareness months have done for conditions like diabetes and men’s health. \n\n\n\n\n\nNoteworthy Facts About Bladder Health\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nThe average adult bladder can hold approximately 400 to 600 millilitres of urine\, and most people urinate six to eight times per day.\n\n\n \n\nSmoking is the single largest risk factor for bladder cancer\, responsible for approximately half of all bladder cancer cases. Smokers are three times more likely to develop bladder cancer than non-smokers.\n\n\n \n\nPelvic floor exercises (Kegels) can reduce urinary incontinence episodes by up to 70% in women and also benefit men\, particularly after prostate surgery.\n\n\n \n\nUrinary tract infections are the second most common type of infection in the body\, accounting for approximately 8.1 million visits to healthcare providers each year in the United States.\n\n\n \n\nBladder conditions cost the United States over $70 billion annually in direct medical costs\, lost productivity\, and related healthcare expenses.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is Bladder Health Month?\n\n\n\n\nBladder Health Month is a November observance in the United States that raises awareness about bladder conditions\, promotes preventive care\, and encourages people to seek treatment for urinary health concerns. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhen is Bladder Health Month in 2026?\n\n\n\n\nBladder Health Month runs throughout November 2026\, from Sunday\, 1 November to Monday\, 30 November. \n\n\n\n\n\nWho organises Bladder Health Month?\n\n\n\n\nBladder Health Month is organised by the Urology Care Foundation and the Bladder Health Alliance\, with recognition from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as a National Health Observance. \n\n\n\n\n\nSpread the Word\n\n\n\n\nHelp raise awareness by sharing Bladder Health Month with your friends\, family\, and followers. SUMMARY:National Healthy Skin Month
DESCRIPTION:National Healthy Skin Month is observed every November in the United States\, promoting good skin care habits\, early detection of skin conditions\, and awareness of preventive measures that protect the body’s largest organ. Launched by the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) in 1997\, the month-long campaign encourages people to take their skin health seriously and seek professional guidance for concerns ranging from dryness and acne to the early signs of skin cancer. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is National Healthy Skin Month?\n\n\n\n\nNational Healthy Skin Month is a registered annual observance of the American Academy of Dermatology\, the largest dermatological society in the world. Throughout November\, the AAD and board-certified dermatologists across the country share evidence-based guidance on skin care\, sun protection\, and the management of chronic skin conditions. The campaign covers skin\, hair\, and nail health\, emphasising that good habits and regular dermatological check-ups can prevent or catch problems early. The AAD often provides free educational resources\, infographics\, and screening referrals to make dermatological care more accessible during the month. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhen is National Healthy Skin Month?\n\n\n\n\nNational Healthy Skin Month runs from Sunday\, 1 November to Monday\, 30 November 2026. It has been observed annually throughout November since its launch in 1997. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhy National Healthy Skin Month Matters\n\n\n\n\nSkin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States\, affecting nearly one in five Americans by the age of 70. Early detection is critical: localised melanoma has a 99% five-year survival rate when caught early\, but survival drops dramatically once the cancer spreads. Beyond cancer\, chronic skin conditions such as eczema\, psoriasis\, rosacea\, and acne affect over 85 million Americans and can have significant impacts on quality of life\, self-esteem\, and mental health. Many skin conditions are exacerbated by preventable factors such as excessive sun exposure\, harsh products\, and poor hydration. National Healthy Skin Month provides an opportunity to educate the public about these risks and to encourage proactive skin care\, from daily sunscreen use to annual skin checks with a dermatologist. \n\n\n\n\n\nHow to Get Involved in National Healthy Skin Month\n\n\n\n\nGood skin health starts with daily habits and regular professional care. Here are ways to participate: \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nSchedule a skin check – Book an appointment with a board-certified dermatologist for a full-body skin examination. Annual skin checks are the best way to detect skin cancer early. If you notice any new\, changing\, or unusual moles or spots\, do not wait until November to be seen.\n\n\n \n\nCommit to daily sunscreen – Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every day\, even in winter and on cloudy days. UV damage accumulates over time and is the leading cause of premature skin ageing and skin cancer.\n\n\n \n\nLearn the ABCDEs of melanoma – Asymmetry\, Border irregularity\, Colour variation\, Diameter larger than 6mm\, and Evolving shape or size. Knowing these warning signs enables you to identify suspicious moles and seek medical advice promptly.\n\n\n \n\nSimplify your skin care routine – A gentle cleanser\, moisturiser\, and sunscreen form the foundation of good skin care. Avoid products with harsh chemicals or fragrances that can irritate the skin. If you have specific concerns\, consult a dermatologist before adding active ingredients.\n\n\n \n\nStay hydrated and eat well – Skin health reflects overall health. Drinking adequate water\, eating a diet rich in antioxidants\, omega-3 fatty acids\, and vitamins A\, C\, and E supports skin cell regeneration and protects against environmental damage.\n\n\n \n\nShare skin health tips – Use social media to share evidence-based skin care advice during November. The AAD provides free downloadable resources and infographics that you can share with your network. Use the hashtag #HealthySkinMonth.\n\n\n \n\nSupport skin health research – Donate to the AAD’s research programmes or organisations like the Skin Cancer Foundation to fund studies into better treatments for skin cancer and chronic skin conditions.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHistory of National Healthy Skin Month\n\n\n\n\nThe American Academy of Dermatology launched National Healthy Skin Month in November 1997\, responding to growing public health concerns about skin cancer rates and the widespread use of tanning beds and inadequate sun protection. The AAD\, founded in 1938\, had long been at the forefront of public education about skin health\, but recognised the need for a concentrated annual campaign that could reach a broader audience. \n\n\n\n\nThe choice of November was deliberate. As summer fades and people spend less time thinking about sun protection\, November serves as a reminder that skin care is a year-round commitment. The transition to cooler weather also brings its own skin challenges\, including dryness\, cracking\, and eczema flare-ups\, making it an ideal time to discuss comprehensive skin health strategies. \n\n\n\n\nSince its launch\, the observance has expanded significantly. The AAD now uses the month to address a wide range of dermatological topics\, from paediatric skin conditions to the psychological impact of visible skin diseases. Free skin cancer screening events\, which the AAD has offered since the 1980s\, are often promoted heavily during November. The campaign has also adapted to the digital age\, with the AAD producing podcasts\, video content\, and interactive online tools that help people assess their skin health and connect with dermatologists. November also sees other health awareness campaigns such as Movember\, creating a broader conversation about preventive health care. \n\n\n\n\n\nNoteworthy Facts About Skin Health\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nThe average adult has approximately 1.5 to 2 square metres (16-22 square feet) of skin\, weighing around 4 to 5 kilograms (9-11 pounds)\, making it the body’s largest organ by both area and weight.\n\n\n \n\nSkin cancer accounts for more diagnoses than all other cancers combined in the United States. The two most common types\, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma\, are highly treatable when detected early.\n\n\n \n\nUsing sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher daily reduces the risk of developing squamous cell carcinoma by approximately 40% and melanoma by approximately 50%\, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation.\n\n\n \n\nEczema (atopic dermatitis) affects approximately 31.6 million Americans\, including 9.6 million children under the age of 18\, making it one of the most common chronic conditions in childhood.\n\n\n \n\nSkin completely renews itself approximately every 27 days\, shedding roughly 30\,000 to 40\,000 dead skin cells per hour\, which means the skin you have today is entirely different from the skin you had a month ago.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is National Healthy Skin Month?\n\n\n\n\nNational Healthy Skin Month is a November observance by the American Academy of Dermatology that promotes good skin care practices\, encourages early detection of skin conditions\, and raises awareness about skin cancer prevention. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhen is National Healthy Skin Month in 2026?\n\n\n\n\nNational Healthy Skin Month runs throughout November 2026\, from Sunday\, 1 November to Monday\, 30 November. \n\n\n\n\n\nHow can I check my skin for cancer at home?\n\n\n\n\nPerform a monthly self-examination using a full-length mirror and a hand mirror to check all areas of your body\, including the scalp\, between toes\, and on the soles of feet. Look for the ABCDEs of melanoma: Asymmetry\, Border irregularity\, Colour variation\, Diameter over 6mm\, and Evolving changes. Report any concerns to a dermatologist promptly. \n\n\n\n\n\nSpread the Word\n\n\n\n\nHelp raise awareness by sharing National Healthy Skin Month with your friends\, family\, and followers. Use the hashtags #HealthySkinMonth and #SkinHealth2026 on social media. Encouraging just one person to schedule a skin check or start wearing daily sunscreen could save a life. \n\n\n\n\n\nRelated Awareness Days\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nSkin Cancer Awareness Month – Held every May\, this month focuses specifically on skin cancer prevention\, early detection\, and treatment.\n\n\n \n\nUV Safety Awareness Month – Observed in July\, this campaign raises awareness about the dangers of ultraviolet radiation and promotes sun-safe behaviours.\n\n\n \n\nPsoriasis Awareness Month – Held in August\, this month highlights the impact of psoriasis on millions of people and promotes understanding of this chronic autoimmune condition.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLinks\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nVisit the AAD National Healthy Skin Month page\n\n\n \n\nExplore more awareness days at AwarenessDays.com\n\n\n\n\n]]>

SUMMARY:National Gratitude Month
DESCRIPTION:National Gratitude Month is observed every November in the United States\, encouraging people to practise thankfulness\, appreciate the people and experiences in their lives\, and build habits of gratitude that extend well beyond the holiday season. Created in 2015 by author and motivational speaker Stacey Grewal\, the month sits naturally alongside Thanksgiving and offers a structured opportunity to focus on positive thinking and emotional wellbeing. \n\n\n\n\n\nHow to Celebrate National Gratitude Month\n\n\n\n\nGratitude is a skill that strengthens with practice. Here are ways to make November a month of meaningful thankfulness: \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nStart a gratitude journal – Each day throughout November\, write down three things you are grateful for. They can be as significant as a supportive relationship or as simple as a warm cup of tea. Research from the University of California\, Davis found that people who keep gratitude journals exercise more regularly\, report fewer physical symptoms\, and feel better about their lives overall.\n\n\n \n\nWrite thank-you notes – Take time each week to write a heartfelt thank-you letter or card to someone who has made a positive impact on your life. Whether it is a teacher\, colleague\, friend\, or family member\, a handwritten note carries a personal touch that digital messages cannot replicate.\n\n\n \n\nCreate a gratitude jar – Place an empty jar in a visible spot at home or at work. Throughout November\, drop in slips of paper noting things you are thankful for. At the end of the month\, read through them together with family or colleagues as a reflection exercise.\n\n\n \n\nVolunteer in your community – Giving back is one of the most powerful expressions of gratitude. Volunteer at a local food bank\, homeless shelter\, or community organisation. November food drives and Thanksgiving meal programmes are especially in need of helping hands.\n\n\n \n\nPractise gratitude at mealtimes – Before meals\, take a moment to share something each family member is grateful for that day. This simple ritual builds a habit of reflection and connection\, particularly meaningful as Thanksgiving approaches.\n\n\n \n\nExpress appreciation at work – Send a message of thanks to a colleague who has helped you\, or nominate a team member for recognition. Workplace gratitude improves morale\, strengthens relationships\, and boosts productivity.\n\n\n \n\nShare gratitude on social media – Join the popular “30 Days of Gratitude” challenge\, posting one thing you are thankful for each day of November. This simple practice spreads positivity through your network and encourages others to reflect on their own blessings.\n\n\n \n\nTeach children about gratitude – Help children create gratitude crafts\, such as “thankful trees” where leaves represent things they appreciate. Instilling gratitude early helps children develop empathy\, resilience\, and stronger social connections.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is National Gratitude Month?\n\n\n\n\nNational Gratitude Month is a November observance that dedicates the entire month to the practice and celebration of gratitude. Unlike a single day of thanks\, the month-long format encourages people to build sustainable habits of appreciation that can improve mental health\, strengthen relationships\, and foster a more positive outlook. The observance has been embraced by schools\, workplaces\, mental health professionals\, and community groups as a structured way to focus on wellbeing during a season that can also bring stress. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhen is National Gratitude Month?\n\n\n\n\nNational Gratitude Month runs from Sunday\, 1 November to Monday\, 30 November 2026. It is observed annually throughout the entire month of November\, deliberately coinciding with the Thanksgiving season in the United States. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe History of National Gratitude Month\n\n\n\n\nNational Gratitude Month was created in 2015 by Stacey Grewal\, an author\, inspirational speaker\, and wellness advocate who believed that gratitude deserved more than a single day of recognition. Grewal submitted the designation in August 2015\, and it was formally recognised for November\, a natural fit given the month’s association with Thanksgiving and the spirit of giving thanks. \n\n\n\n\nGrewal’s initiative tapped into a growing body of scientific research on the benefits of gratitude. Psychologist Robert Emmons of the University of California\, Davis\, and Michael McCullough of the University of Miami had published influential studies in the early 2000s demonstrating that regularly practising gratitude leads to measurable improvements in happiness\, health\, and resilience. Their work\, along with Martin Seligman’s positive psychology movement\, had already popularised concepts like gratitude journals and thankfulness exercises in therapeutic settings. \n\n\n\n\nNational Gratitude Month quickly gained traction beyond its founder’s initial vision. Schools began incorporating gratitude activities into their November curricula. Workplaces adopted gratitude programmes as part of employee wellbeing initiatives. Mental health professionals recommended the month as a structured starting point for clients to develop gratitude practices. Social media amplified the movement through viral challenges like the “30 Days of Gratitude” posting trend. The observance now sits comfortably alongside November’s broader themes of community and appreciation\, including events like World Kindness Day on 13 November. \n\n\n\n\n\nFun Facts About Gratitude\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nResearch published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology found that people who wrote about things they were grateful for each week were 25% happier than those who wrote about irritations or neutral events.\n\n\n \n\nGrateful people sleep an average of 30 minutes more per night than those who do not practise gratitude\, according to a study published in Applied Psychology: Health and Well-Being.\n\n\n \n\nNeuroscience research shows that expressing gratitude activates the brain’s hypothalamus and ventral tegmental area\, regions associated with stress regulation and the production of dopamine\, the “feel good” neurotransmitter.\n\n\n \n\nA 2018 study from the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley found that gratitude can reduce inflammation and improve heart health\, with grateful individuals showing lower levels of inflammatory biomarkers.\n\n\n \n\nThe word “gratitude” comes from the Latin word “gratia\,” meaning grace\, graciousness\, or gratefulness\, and has been a recognised virtue across cultures and religions for thousands of years.\n\n\n \n\nCouples who express gratitude to each other regularly report higher levels of relationship satisfaction and are more likely to stay together\, according to research from the University of Georgia.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy National Gratitude Month Matters\n\n\n\n\nThe benefits of gratitude extend well beyond feeling good in the moment. Regular gratitude practice has been linked to lower rates of depression and anxiety\, improved immune function\, better sleep quality\, and stronger social bonds. In a month that can also bring financial stress from holiday spending and emotional complexity from family dynamics\, National Gratitude Month offers a counterbalance. It reminds us to pause\, notice the good\, and express appreciation to the people around us\, habits that research consistently shows lead to greater resilience and life satisfaction. \n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is National Gratitude Month?\n\n\n\n\nNational Gratitude Month is a November observance that encourages people to practise thankfulness throughout the month\, build habits of appreciation\, and experience the proven mental and physical health benefits of gratitude. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhen is National Gratitude Month in 2026?\n\n\n\n\nNational Gratitude Month runs throughout November 2026\, from Sunday\, 1 November to Monday\, 30 November. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhat are simple ways to practise gratitude daily?\n\n\n\n\nSimple daily gratitude practices include keeping a journal where you write three things you are grateful for\, sending a thank-you message to someone each day\, pausing before meals to reflect on what you appreciate\, and taking a few minutes before bed to mentally review the positive moments of your day. \n\n\n\n\n\nSpread the Word\n\n\n\n\nJoin the celebration and share what you are grateful for on social media with #NationalGratitudeMonth and #Gratitude2026. SUMMARY:Eye Donor Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:Eye Donor Awareness Month is observed every November in the United States\, honouring the generosity of eye donors and their families while promoting public understanding of corneal transplantation and the importance of registering as an organ and tissue donor. Established in 1983 through a presidential proclamation by Ronald Reagan\, the observance is led by the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) and celebrates the gift of sight that has transformed millions of lives. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is Eye Donor Awareness Month?\n\n\n\n\nEye Donor Awareness Month is a month-long campaign dedicated to educating the public about eye and tissue donation\, honouring donors and their families\, and sharing the stories of corneal transplant recipients whose sight has been restored. The campaign is coordinated by the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA)\, a non-profit organisation that has supported eye banking and corneal transplantation since its founding in 1961. Throughout November\, EBAA member eye banks\, hospitals\, and transplant centres host events\, share educational materials\, and recognise the donors whose generosity makes sight-restoring surgery possible. Each year\, the campaign adopts a specific theme to spotlight different aspects of eye donation and its life-changing impact. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhen is Eye Donor Awareness Month?\n\n\n\n\nEye Donor Awareness Month runs from Sunday\, 1 November to Monday\, 30 November 2026. It has been observed annually throughout November since its inception in 1983. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhy Eye Donor Awareness Month Matters\n\n\n\n\nCorneal disease is one of the leading causes of blindness worldwide\, but corneal transplantation offers a remarkably effective solution. Since 1961\, EBAA member eye banks have provided tissue for more than 2 million sight-restoring corneal transplants\, with success rates of 95 to 98 percent. In the United States alone\, approximately 85\,000 corneal and other ocular tissue transplants are performed each year. However\, the demand for donor tissue continues to outstrip supply globally\, with an estimated 12.7 million people worldwide waiting for a corneal transplant. Eye Donor Awareness Month plays a vital role in encouraging more people to register as donors\, dispelling myths about eye donation\, and ensuring that donor families understand the profound impact of their loved one’s gift. \n\n\n\n\n\nHow to Get Involved in Eye Donor Awareness Month\n\n\n\n\nWhether you are a healthcare professional\, a potential donor\, or simply someone who wants to support sight restoration\, there are many ways to participate: \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nRegister as an organ and tissue donor – The simplest and most impactful action you can take is to register as a donor through your state’s donor registry or at registerme.org. Ensure your family knows your wishes\, as next-of-kin consent is often required at the time of donation.\n\n\n \n\nEducate yourself about eye donation – Visit the EBAA website to learn the facts about corneal transplantation. Many people are unaware that virtually anyone can be an eye donor regardless of age\, eyesight quality\, or medical history. Even people who wore glasses or had prior eye surgery can donate corneal tissue.\n\n\n \n\nShare donor and recipient stories – Personal stories are powerful tools for changing minds and encouraging registration. If you or someone you know has received a corneal transplant or is a donor family member\, consider sharing your experience with your community or on social media.\n\n\n \n\nHonour a donor’s legacy – EBAA member eye banks offer tribute programmes where you can honour an eye donor or recipient. These tributes provide a meaningful way to recognise the gift of sight and support the mission of eye banking.\n\n\n \n\nSupport eye bank organisations – Donate to the EBAA or your local eye bank to fund research into improved transplant techniques\, tissue preservation\, and equitable access to corneal transplantation worldwide.\n\n\n \n\nDispel myths about eye donation – Many people are reluctant to register as eye donors because of misconceptions. Common myths include the belief that eye donation will alter the donor’s appearance (it does not)\, that it conflicts with religious beliefs (most religions support organ donation)\, or that older people cannot donate (there is no upper age limit).\n\n\n \n\nTalk to your eye care provider – Ask your ophthalmologist or optometrist about corneal health and transplantation during your next appointment. Eye care professionals can provide information about how donor tissue is used and why registration matters.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHistory of Eye Donor Awareness Month\n\n\n\n\nEye Donor Awareness Month was established in November 1983 through a presidential proclamation by Ronald Reagan. The proclamation recognised the life-changing impact of corneal transplantation and the urgent need to increase public awareness about eye donation. The Eye Bank Association of America\, which had been facilitating corneal transplants since its founding in 1961\, was instrumental in advocating for the designation. \n\n\n\n\nThe history of corneal transplantation itself stretches back much further. The first successful full-thickness corneal transplant was performed in 1905 by Austrian ophthalmologist Eduard Zirm. However\, the modern era of eye banking began in 1944\, when R. Townley Paton founded the first eye bank in New York City. The establishment of the EBAA in 1961 created a national framework for the recovery\, processing\, and distribution of donor eye tissue\, standardising practices that dramatically improved transplant outcomes. \n\n\n\n\nSince its establishment\, Eye Donor Awareness Month has grown to encompass a wide range of activities\, from community education events to international research collaborations. The EBAA now works with eye banks in more than 50 countries\, reflecting the global nature of the need for donor tissue. The observance has also adapted to include newer forms of corneal surgery\, such as endothelial keratoplasty\, which transplants only the innermost layer of the cornea and allows for faster recovery. Today\, the month serves not only as a time for education but also as a period of reflection and gratitude\, honouring the donors and families whose generosity gives others the gift of sight\, a theme that resonates deeply during a month also dedicated to World Kindness Day. \n\n\n\n\n\nNoteworthy Facts About Eye Donation\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nSince 1961\, EBAA member eye banks have provided tissue for more than 2 million sight-restoring corneal transplants\, making it one of the most successful transplant programmes in medical history.\n\n\n \n\nCorneal transplants have a success rate of 95 to 98 percent\, among the highest of any transplant procedure.\n\n\n \n\nThere is no upper age limit for eye donation. Tissue from donors in their 70s\, 80s\, and beyond is routinely used for successful transplants.\n\n\n \n\nA single eye donor can help restore sight for multiple recipients\, as different parts of the eye can be used for corneal transplants\, scleral grafts\, and research.\n\n\n \n\nAn estimated 12.7 million people worldwide are waiting for a corneal transplant\, with the greatest unmet need in developing countries where access to eye banking infrastructure is limited.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is Eye Donor Awareness Month?\n\n\n\n\nEye Donor Awareness Month is a November observance that raises awareness about corneal transplantation\, honours eye donors and their families\, and encourages the public to register as organ and tissue donors. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhen is Eye Donor Awareness Month in 2026?\n\n\n\n\nEye Donor Awareness Month runs throughout November 2026\, from Sunday\, 1 November to Monday\, 30 November. \n\n\n\n\n\nCan anyone be an eye donor?\n\n\n\n\nYes\, virtually anyone can be an eye donor regardless of age\, eyesight quality\, or prior eye conditions. There is no upper age limit\, and people who wore glasses\, had cataracts\, or had laser eye surgery can still donate corneal tissue. The suitability of tissue is assessed at the time of donation. \n\n\n\n\n\nSpread the Word\n\n\n\n\nHelp raise awareness by sharing Eye Donor Awareness Month with your friends\, family\, and followers. Use the hashtags #EyeDonorMonth and #GiftOfSight2026 on social media. Encouraging one person to register as a donor could restore someone’s sight. \n\n\n\n\n\nRelated Awareness Days\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nWorld Health Day – Held on 7 April each year\, this WHO-led day highlights a different global health priority\, promoting universal access to healthcare including sight-restoring treatments.\n\n\n \n\nInternational Day of Radiology – Celebrated on 8 November\, this day recognises the role of medical imaging\, including ophthalmic imaging technologies that support eye health diagnostics.\n\n\n \n\nWorld Kindness Day – Observed on 13 November\, this day celebrates acts of generosity and compassion\, reflecting the profound gift that eye donors and their families give to recipients.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLinks\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nVisit the Eye Bank Association of America website\n\n\n \n\nExplore more awareness days at AwarenessDays.com\n\n\n\n\n]]>

SUMMARY:Sepsis in Leukaemia Awareness Week 2026
DESCRIPTION:What is Sepsis in Leukaemia Awareness Week?\nSepsis in Leukaemia Awareness Week is a dedicated initiative to raise awareness about infections in Leukaemia patients undergoing chemotherapy\, and highlight the ongoing dangers of infection and it’s systemic effects\, even when the leukaemia is in remission.\nThis day is an opportunity for patients and families to share their stories. \nWhat we hope to achieve? \nMany researchers in the world are focusing on the cure for leukaemia\, either as a treatment or as preventative measures. Yet there seems to be an unmet clinical need in managing the effects of the chemotherapies for leukaemia\, which are designed to obliterate a patients total immune system\, with the goal of killing leukaemia cells too.\nThere is however\, very little research focused on how to best manage these patients whilst they have no immune system. Much of the management is carried out through prophylactic antibiotic treatment. However\, this can lead to antibiotic resistance and increase the risk of sepsis and septic shock.\nBy raising awareness\, we hope to encourage donations to charities which fund such research – which is currently a largely under-funded area of research. \nHow to get involved?\nTo get involved in this year’s Sepsis in Leukaemia Awareness Week you can; \n\nShare our posts across your social media channels\nParticipate in events\, or organise events to raise money for research into sepsis in Leukaemia. We encourage schools to hold events allowing children to wear odd teal and green socks.\nDonate\nWear the Teal and Green ribbon / wristband to show your support\nEducate yourselves and other about the early warning signs of leukaemia or sepsis when undergoing chemotherapy\nFind out more about Sepsis In Leukaemia Awareness Week here.

The day is marked by educational campaigns\, webinars\, health check events\, and social media discussions. Whether you’re joining a local men’s group or sharing resources online\, the focus is on making conversations about hormone health normal and supportive. \nWhy National Testosterone Awareness Day Matters\nTestosterone deficiency can have a profound impact on mental and physical health – from persistent tiredness and reduced motivation to increased risk of heart disease. Many people ignore symptoms or feel embarrassed to discuss them\, leading to unnecessary suffering. By highlighting the signs and encouraging medical check-ups\, this day helps people reclaim their wellbeing and breaks down harmful stereotypes about masculinity and health. The stakes are high: undiagnosed hormone imbalances can affect relationships\, work\, and self-esteem. \nHow to Get Involved in National Testosterone Awareness Day\nAnyone can help make a difference\, whether by learning\, sharing\, or supporting someone in their circle. Here are some ideas: \n\nOrganize an information session at work\, school\, or your local community center.\nEncourage friends or family to schedule a health checkup if they’re experiencing symptoms.\nShare reliable resources and stories on social media to reduce stigma.\nReach out to local healthcare providers about running free screening events.\nStart a conversation – sometimes\, just asking “How are you feeling?” can open the door to support.\n\nHistory of National Testosterone Awareness Day\nNational Testosterone Awareness Day was created by health advocates and medical professionals who saw too many people struggling in silence with hormone issues. The day began as a grassroots initiative in the United States\, aiming to bridge the gap between medical information and everyday experiences. Over the years\, it has grown\, with more clinics\, charities\, and community leaders joining the movement to make hormone health part of regular wellbeing conversations. \nNoteworthy Facts About National Testosterone Awareness Day\n\nTestosterone levels naturally decline with age\, often starting in the early 30s for men.\nSymptoms of low testosterone can include depression\, loss of muscle mass\, and sleep disturbances.\nWomen also produce testosterone\, and imbalances can impact their health too.\nMany people wait years before seeking help due to stigma or misinformation.\nSimple blood tests can identify hormone imbalances\, opening the door to effective treatment.\n\nHashtags\n#NationalTestosteroneAwarenessDay\, #TestosteroneAwareness2026\, #MensHealth

SUMMARY:World Prematurity Day
DESCRIPTION:Every year\, communities around the globe come together to shine a light on the experience of babies born too soon and the families who support them. World Prematurity Day invites us to reflect on the journey of preterm birth\, the advances made in care\, and the work still ahead so that every tiny life can begin with hope and dignity. \nWhat is World Prematurity Day?\nPicture this: a baby born at 32 weeks\, or even 28 weeks\, arriving into the world weeks earlier than expected. Those early days and weeks can be a whirlwind of intensive care\, love\, fear and hope. World Prematurity Day is a global observance dedicated to raising awareness about preterm birth – babies born before 37 weeks of pregnancy are completed – and the challenges they and their families face. \nThis day supports three intertwined aims: recognising the medical\, social and emotional dimensions of being born too soon; advocating for quality care for small and sick newborns; and urging health systems\, communities and governments to ensure equity in survival and thriving so that geography or income don’t determine a child’s chances. \nWhen is World Prematurity Day?\nThe observation has traditionally been marked each year on 17 November. In 2026\, however\, the World Health Organization (WHO) has designated 15 November 2026 as the official date going forward\, in order to dedicate a unique day free from overlap with other health observances. \nThe day is observed globally by hospitals\, NGOs\, parent groups\, communities\, and individuals through lighting monuments\, wearing a purple ribbon (the colour of prematurity awareness)\, sharing stories\, and organising events to bring attention to preterm birth. \nWhy World Prematurity Day Matters\nEvery baby born too soon holds potential. Yet being born preterm places infants and families at elevated risk. Globally\, approximately one in ten babies is born prematurely. Without access to quality neonatal and maternal care\, preterm birth can lead to life‑threatening conditions such as respiratory distress\, infection\, hypothermia and long‑term developmental challenges. \nImportantly\, survival rates and long‑term outcomes differ dramatically based on where a baby is born. In higher‑income countries\, extremely preterm infants may survive with advanced care; in lower‑income settings the odds are much lower. This inequality goes to the heart of why awareness matters – supporting the idea that every baby deserves a fair start regardless of geography or wealth. \nIt also matters for families. Premature births bring emotional stress\, disruption of expectations\, potential financial burdens\, and a need for specialised follow‑up care. When communities and systems support those families\, the whole society benefits. The theme for 2026 – “Give preterm babies a strong start for a hopeful future” – underscores that survival alone is not enough; thriving matters too. \nHow to Get Involved in World Prematurity Day\nYou don’t have to be a specialist to take part. Whether you’re an individual\, work in a school\, manage a workplace\, or belong to a community group – there are meaningful ways to contribute. \n\nWear purple on the day (or the week) to show solidarity with preterm babies and their families. Promote the colour in your workplace\, school or community space.\nShare stories and facts on social media or your networks using hashtags such as #WorldPrematurityDay\, #PretermBirth and #GivePretermBabiesAStrongStart. Highlight local or personal stories of preterm births\, care and hope.\nIf you’re part of a health service or clinic\, host a webinar\, patient‑family panel or drop‑in session about preterm birth\, neonatal care\, or family support groups.\nFor workplaces\, consider hosting a “coffee & learn” session: invite a neonatal nurse or parent of a preemie to speak\, or support fundraising for neonatal care equipment or parent‑support programs.\nSchools and youth groups can create artwork or awareness posters\, invite guest speakers\, run a “purple day” or include a lesson about birth\, babies and health equity.\nAdvocate in your local context: ask your local health authority how they support special care for small and sick newborns\, and whether there are gaps in support for families of preterm infants. Write a letter\, join a local NHS trust meeting\, or volunteer with a neonatal parent organisation.\n\nSmall actions contribute to a broader movement of change – and over time those added up make a huge difference. \nHistory of World Prematurity Day\nThe origins of this day lie in the work of parent‑organisations and neonatal care groups that sought to give voice to babies born too soon and their families. In 2008\, the European Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants (EFCNI) together with European parent organisations launched the first awareness activities for what would become World Prematurity Day. \nBy 2011 or so the day had gained global traction\, as more national organisations\, research bodies and parent groups joined in. Over the years\, the observance has grown: lighting buildings in purple\, sharing global statistics and coordinating advocacy efforts. \nA landmark moment arrived in 2026 when the World Health Assembly officially added World Prematurity Day to the WHO’s international health calendar\, recognising its pivotal importance for child survival and well‑being. \nNoteworthy Facts About World Prematurity Day\n\nGlobally\, about 1 in 10 babies (roughly 9.9%) are born preterm (before 37 weeks) in 2020 estimates.\nPreterm birth remains the leading cause of death among children under age five.\nThe 2026 campaign theme is “Give preterm babies a strong start for a hopeful future”\, which emphasises not just survival but the opportunity to thrive.\nWhile the observance was long held on 17 November\, WHO has designated 15 November 2026 as the official day going forward.\nThe majority of preterm births happen in southern Asia and sub‑Saharan Africa\, but they are truly a global phenomenon.\n\nHashtags\n#WorldPrematurityDay\, #PretermBirth\, #GivePretermBabiesAStrongStart \nLinks\n\nVisit the official site\nWHO fact sheet on preterm birth

SUMMARY:European Antibiotic Awareness Day
DESCRIPTION:Antibiotics have saved countless lives\, but their power is at risk. European Antibiotic Awareness Day calls on everyone – from patients to professionals – to protect these essential medicines by using them wisely. \nWhat is European Antibiotic Awareness Day?\nImagine a world where a simple infection could become life-threatening. European Antibiotic Awareness Day shines a light on the growing problem of antibiotic resistance. The event brings together healthcare workers\, patients\, and policymakers to share information about why antibiotics should only be used when truly needed. It supports anyone who wants to understand the risks of overusing antibiotics\, from parents of young children to people managing chronic health conditions. \nWhen is European Antibiotic Awareness Day?\nEuropean Antibiotic Awareness Day is held every year on November 18. Activities typically take place on this single day\, but the conversation continues throughout the week as part of World Antimicrobial Awareness Week. Hospitals\, clinics\, schools\, and online communities across Europe join in with educational campaigns\, workshops\, and social media outreach. \nWhy European Antibiotic Awareness Day Matters\nAntibiotic resistance is not just a medical issue – it affects families\, communities\, and entire health systems. Each year\, drug-resistant infections cause over 35\,000 deaths in Europe alone. Misusing antibiotics for viral infections\, skipping doses\, or not finishing a course can help bacteria learn how to outsmart our medicines. If we lose antibiotics\, routine surgeries and cancer treatments could become far riskier. The stakes are real for everyone\, whether you’re caring for a loved one or simply picking up a prescription. \nHow to Get Involved in European Antibiotic Awareness Day\nEveryone can take small steps to make a big difference. Here are a few ways to get involved: \n\nShare trusted information about antibiotics on social media or in your workplace.\nAsk your doctor if antibiotics are necessary before starting a prescription.\nEncourage schools to host awareness sessions for students and parents.\nTake antibiotics exactly as prescribed – never share or save them for later.\nSupport local pharmacies and clinics running educational events.\n\nHistory of European Antibiotic Awareness Day\nEuropean Antibiotic Awareness Day began in 2008\, launched by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). It was created in response to alarming trends in antibiotic resistance across Europe. What started as a regional campaign has grown into a major annual event\, inspiring hospitals\, governments\, and communities to take action and protect the effectiveness of antibiotics for future generations. \nNoteworthy Facts About European Antibiotic Awareness Day\n\nEach year\, European Antibiotic Awareness Day reaches over 30 countries through coordinated campaigns.\nIn some European countries\, up to 50% of antibiotics are used inappropriately – often for viral infections like colds.\nAntibiotic resistance leads to longer hospital stays and higher medical costs for patients and health systems.\nSimple actions\, like regular handwashing\, can help reduce the need for antibiotics by preventing infections in the first place.\nThe event is part of the broader World Antimicrobial Awareness Week\, connecting efforts across continents.\n\nHashtags\n#EuropeanAntibioticAwarenessDay\, #EAAD2026\, #AntibioticResistance
