UK Savings Week is an annual initiative aimed at encouraging individuals across the United Kingdom to take control of their finances by prioritising saving. Whether it’s saving for a rainy day, a specific goal, or retirement, this week serves as a reminder of the importance of setting aside money regularly. UK Savings Week is a time to raise awareness about the benefits of saving, offer practical advice on how to start or boost savings, and inspire a national conversation about financial well-being.
What is UK Savings Week?
When, how and how much we save is different for everyone. UK Savings Week is all about helping individuals to save their own way, when they can.
Since the first UK Savings Week in 2022, we have been promoting the benefits of people having and activity managing their savings. To achieve this, we invite a wide range of organisations to come together to help guide and encourage people to have better savings habits.
Why is UK Savings Week important?
Having a regular savings habit can provide a safety net when things go wrong. Even a small rainy-day pot to fall back on when an unexpected bill lands, can provide security and reduce worry in difficult times.
But savings are not just for the unexpected. A growing savings pot can help achieve future dreams and aspirations, whether that’s saving for a weekend break or a holiday of a lifetime, a new dress or a new home, a new hobby or career-changing qualification, Christmas presents or a wedding. Getting into the habit of putting some money aside each month towards a future goal will help to ensure that a dream can be achieved.
When is UK Savings Week?
This year UK Savings Week is 22–28 September 2025
