It celebrates the importance of schools’ football\, competitive or otherwise\, to pupils across England and provides teachers and coaches with tools and a motivation to further discuss the benefits of schools’ football within their educational environment. \nThe 2022 SFW campaign saw us embrace the growing participation in girls’ football in schools – promoting the importance of equal access to schools’ football for both girls and boys. The campaign alone saw over 56\,000 girls benefitting from footballing opportunities across the 7th – 13th February. In this new season\, following the incredible journey of the Lionesses and continuing the trend the ESFA have seen over the last two years\, we’ve seen the highest number of girls’ entries into National Cup competitions\, with over 120 schools entering girls’ teams for the first time. We are going to continue in our pursuit to celebrate girls’ and all schools’ football in 2026. \nHow to get involved in School’s Football Week 2026?\n Inter-house or intra-school tournaments \nAny school can run an inter-house (or inter-form) or intra-school football tournament for boys and/or girls. This could be hosted at lunchtime\, after school or during PE lessons and yours could take any format that you wish. For example\, a group phase followed by a final\, or just a straight forward knockout competition. You could get other pupils involved by making banners to support teams or even writing supporter songs. Maybe you could host an all-girls tournament or encourage a record number of girls in your own school to take part in activity\, just like in our National Cups. \n Football formats  \nYou can choose to use whichever format of football best suits your requirements: 11-a-side\, 9-a-side\, 7-a-side\, 6-a-side\, indoor 5-a-side or even futsal if you have the facilities available. The objective of Schools’ Football Week is to get as many children playing or talking about football as possible and enjoying the game in a safe and secure environment\, regardless of their ability. Remember: children should only play in 2-year age bands in accordance with FA rules. \n Pupil activity for lunchtime…or any time \nThere are some other great examples of how you can introduce football into the school day for Schools’ Football Week 2026 – we’ve put a short list together for you below\, but maybe you have other ideas you’d like to try too – \n\nCoaching sessions for pupils\nPE warm-up sessions based on football drills\nCrossbar challenges (you could try pupils v teachers!)\nPenalty shootout games or competitions\nFreestyle football skills\n\nHow to Register for School’s Football Week 2026?\nWe have set up a link to register your school as taking part in Schools’ Football Week. In February 2022\, we registered over 142\,000 pupils taking part in activity\, plus over 57\,000 girls and over 800 schools – we hope to be able to push this even further in 2026. However big or small your participation will be\, it all counts\, it’s all valuable and it all matters. You are helping us to create something exciting and wonderful! \nClick here to register for SFW 2026 \n [/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container][fusion_builder_container type=”flex” hundred_percent=”no” equal_height_columns=”no” menu_anchor=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility\,medium-visibility\,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_position=”center center” background_repeat=”no-repeat” fade=”no” background_parallax=”none” parallax_speed=”0.3″ video_mp4=”” video_webm=”” video_ogv=”” video_url=”” video_aspect_ratio=”16:9″ video_loop=”yes” video_mute=”yes” overlay_color=”” video_preview_image=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” padding_top=”” padding_bottom=”” padding_left=”” padding_right=””][/fusion_builder_container] \nGet the 2026 ToolkitEvery awareness day in 2026 — spreadsheet\, PDF calendars\, iCal feed and unlimited reading. SUMMARY:Parent Mental Health Day
DESCRIPTION:Parent Mental Health Day takes place on Friday\, 30 January 2026. Founded by the UK youth mental health charity stem4\, the day raises awareness of the vital link between parents’ and carers’ mental health and the wellbeing of the whole family. It encourages parents to look after their own mental health while supporting the young people in their care. \nWhat is Parent Mental Health Day?\nParent Mental Health Day is an annual UK awareness day created in 2022 by the charity stem4. Many parents reported feeling overwhelmed\, anxious\, or depressed\, often while trying to support a child experiencing their own difficulties. \nThe charity launched Parent Mental Health Day to give parents their own moment of recognition and support. Each year a different theme guides the campaign\, from “Healthy Parent\, Healthy Child” to messages around resilience\, asking for help\, and managing change. Schools\, GP practices\, employers\, and councils have all become involved\, with parent forums and webinars held in the run-up to and on the day itself. \nSince its launch\, Parent Mental Health Day has gathered momentum across the UK\, supported by celebrities\, mental health professionals\, and major employers. The day complements stem4’s portfolio of free mental health apps\, including Calm Harm and Clear Fear\, which are used by hundreds of thousands of young people and parents. \nNoteworthy Facts About Parent Mental Health Day\n\nParent Mental Health Day was founded in 2022 by the UK youth mental health charity stem4.\nThe day is held annually on 30 January and is supported by schools\, employers\, and the NHS.\nstem4 was founded by Dr Nihara Krause\, a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist.\nResearch consistently shows that parental wellbeing has a direct impact on children’s mental health and development.\nThe charity offers free downloadable mental health apps including Calm Harm and Clear Fear\, used by parents and young people across the world.\n\nFrequently Asked Questions\nWhat is Parent Mental Health Day?\nIt is a UK awareness day created by the charity stem4 to raise awareness of parental mental health and its impact on the wellbeing of the whole family. \nWhen is Parent Mental Health Day in 2026?\nParent Mental Health Day takes place on Friday\, 30 January 2026. \nWho organises Parent Mental Health Day?\nThe day is organised by stem4\, a UK charity founded by Dr Nihara Krause that supports the mental health of young people and the parents and carers around them. \nSpread the Word\nHelp raise awareness by sharing Parent Mental Health Day with your friends\, family\, and followers. The day aims to get parents and carers to take a moment to reflect on the balance they have in their lives\, as well as how they balance looking after their family’s mental health and to take steps to make positive change and ‘balance out’. \nParent Mental Health Day is here to shine a light on the unsung heroes who have parented under changed circumstances throughout the pandemic\, but now need some focus on themselves as well as their children and young people. By getting parents (and their employers) engaged in discussions about how to look after their own and their family’s mental health\, PMHD breaks the stigma surrounding parent mental health and starts a discussion on how parents are coping too. \nWith a focus on encouraging balance\, Parent Mental Health Day will encourage parents\, carers\, and employers to acknowledge the difficulties parents across the world have and are facing and\, through this sharing\, develop ways to change. \nWhen is Parent Mental Health Day 2026?\nParent Mental Health Day will take place on the 30th January 2026. \nHow to get involved in Parent Mental Health Day 2026\nFor more information and resources on Parent Mental Health Day and Balancing Out go to: http://parentmentalhealthday.co.uk/ \nstem4 provides resources\, including free apps\, for young people to encourage good mental health\, ward off anxiety and low mood\, encourage calm\, and prevent self-harm. stem4 also have an app to support parents who are looking after a young person with mental health issues. stem4 also helps and provides resources to those supporting young people including; parents and carers\, education professionals\, GPs and school nurses. \nThe charity delivers mental health education\, resilience strategies and early intervention. Regular screenings can detect abnormal cell changes early\, which can prevent cervical cancer.\nSupport HPV Vaccination: Support efforts to vaccinate eligible individuals against HPV\, which is a leading cause of cervical cancer. Encourage vaccination for yourself or your children if recommended by healthcare professionals.\nOrganize or Attend Events: Look for local events\, webinars\, or workshops related to cervical cancer prevention during this week. Participate in these activities to gain more knowledge and meet others who are passionate about the cause.\nDonate or Volunteer: Consider donating to organizations dedicated to cervical cancer prevention or volunteering your time to support their initiatives.\n\nHistory of Cervical Cancer Prevention Week\nCervical Cancer Prevention Week has been observed for many years and has played a crucial role in raising awareness about cervical health. It was established to honor the memory of Jade Goody\, a well-known British reality television star who tragically passed away from cervical cancer at a young age. Her story highlighted the importance of early detection and prevention. \nRelevant Hashtags\nWhen sharing information and supporting Cervical Cancer Prevention Week on social media\, consider using these hashtags: \n\n#CervicalCancerPrevention\n#CervicalHealth\n#CervicalScreening\n#HPVVaccination\n#PreventCervicalCancer\n\nUsing these hashtags helps create a sense of community and ensures that your posts reach a wider audience\, ultimately contributing to increased awareness and prevention efforts. \n[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container] \nGet the 2026 ToolkitEvery awareness day in 2026 — spreadsheet\, PDF calendars\, iCal feed and unlimited reading. Known as Blue Monday\, it’s often linked with low moods\, depleted motivation\, and a post-holiday slump. While the idea started as a publicity stunt\, it has since become an annual reminder of something real and important: mental health matters – especially when days are short and emotions feel heavy. In 2026\, Blue Monday falls on January 19. \nWhat is Blue Monday 2026?\nBlue Monday 2026 is observed on the third Monday in January and is often described as the “saddest day of the year.” The label may be more symbolic than scientific\, but the feelings it points to are common. After the holidays\, many people experience a dip – financially\, emotionally\, and physically. Cold weather\, shorter daylight hours\, and pressure to stick to resolutions can all contribute. \nOver time\, Blue Monday has evolved from a media gimmick into a day for raising awareness about mental health. It’s now used by charities\, employers\, schools\, and communities to promote self-care\, reduce stigma\, and encourage open conversations around emotional wellbeing. \nWhen is Blue Monday 2026?\nBlue Monday is always observed on the third Monday of January. In 2026\, that date is January 19. While the “most depressing day” label has no clinical basis\, it falls during a time when seasonal factors can significantly affect people’s mood and energy levels. That makes it a useful prompt for checking in – with yourself and others. \nWhy Blue Monday Matters\nWhether or not one day can be objectively “bluer” than another\, Blue Monday serves as a cultural nudge to take mental health seriously. Depression\, anxiety\, and burnout don’t follow the calendar – but the struggles many face during winter are real. For some\, it’s seasonal affective disorder (SAD). For others\, it’s financial stress\, social isolation\, or simply the letdown after the holidays. \nBlue Monday isn’t about labeling a bad day – it’s about acknowledging that emotional lows deserve attention. It opens the door for meaningful support and reminds us to ask\, listen\, and act with empathy. That’s something we need far beyond January. \nHow to Cope with Blue Monday 2026\nIf you’re feeling low on Blue Monday – or any day – you’re not alone. Here are some small but meaningful ways to support your mental wellbeing: \n\nConnect with someone: Talk to a friend\, family member\, or mental health professional. Just sharing how you feel can bring relief.\nMove your body: Gentle exercise\, even a short walk\, can lift your mood by increasing serotonin and endorphins.\nLimit negative input: Be mindful of your media intake. Take breaks from news cycles or social media if they heighten stress.\nCreate structure: Set a small\, achievable goal for the day. Completing it can offer a sense of control and progress.\nBe kind to yourself: If motivation is low\, don’t force productivity. Rest\, nourish your body\, and remind yourself this feeling will pass.\n\nMore importantly\, reach out if you’re struggling. Organizations like Mind\, Lifeline\, or local crisis helplines are there to support you\, not just today\, but always. \nHistory of Blue Monday\nBlue Monday was first introduced in 2005 as part of a UK travel company’s marketing campaign. A psychologist working with the brand created a pseudo-formula that included weather patterns\, debt levels\, time since the holidays\, and motivation levels. While this “formula” was widely criticized and discredited by scientists\, the phrase stuck. \nRather than fade away\, Blue Monday took on a new meaning. Mental health advocates began using the day to highlight emotional wellbeing and fight stigma. Over time\, it became a moment for reflection\, outreach\, and community-driven support campaigns. \nNoteworthy Facts About Blue Monday\n\nThere is no scientific proof that Blue Monday is the most depressing day – but winter can worsen symptoms of depression\, especially in northern climates.\nSeasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) affects around 5% of adults in the U.S. each year\, with symptoms most commonly appearing in January and February.\nMany mental health charities now use Blue Monday as a positive opportunity to promote awareness and reduce stigma.\nWorkplaces often mark the day with wellness activities\, mental health talks\, or “dress in blue” campaigns to start conversations.\n\nHashtags\n#BlueMonday\, #MentalHealthAwareness\, #SelfCareMatters\, #YouAreNotAlone\, #Wellbeing2026 \nLinks\n\nMind – Winter Mental Health Tips\nNHS – Mental Health Self-Help Resources\nSamaritans – 24/7 Support\n\n[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container] \nGet the 2026 ToolkitEvery awareness day in 2026 — spreadsheet\, PDF calendars\, iCal feed and unlimited reading.
