Under the Hard Hat Day is a national awareness initiative by Pirtek, created to spotlight mental health in the UK and Ireland’s hard hat industries — including construction, engineering, manufacturing, and more.

These sectors are often male-dominated and high-pressure, where mental health struggles are common but rarely discussed. In fact, 94% of workers report experiencing stress, anxiety, or loneliness, yet over half feel uncomfortable speaking up.

This day encourages businesses and individuals to break the stigma, start conversations, and support mental wellbeing as part of workplace safety. Backed by charities like Andy’s Man Club and PIPS, and supported by advocates like Ollie Ollerton, the campaign calls on everyone to look out for what’s going on under the hard hat.
