Established in 1998 and celebrated on the 22nd October every year, International Stuttering Awareness Day raises awareness of the speech disorder that affects 1% of the globes population.
With a conference that runs online from the 1st October through to the 22nd October, the organisers seek input from people who stutter themselves, families, friends and employees of people who stutter and also from professionals working in the field.
ISAD is organised and supported by three organisations, The European League of Stuttering Association, International Fluency Association and the International Stuttering Association and the hive of activity they create in the run up to and throughout the conference has resulted in much media coverage- all helping to raise awareness, educate and find solutions and coping mechanisms for those affected.
This often overlooked and misunderstood speech disorder is a truly Global affair and the conference and ISAD offers some extremely informative sessions via the conference along with many worldwide, creative events and activities to support and raise awareness of stuttering.
