History of Anti Slavery Day
Anti Slavery Day in the UK was established by the Anti-Slavery Day Act 2010, introduced by Anthony Steen MP, to raise awareness of human trafficking and modern slavery. It built on the United Nations’ Slavery Remembrance Day and broader international recognition that slavery in various modern forms remains a global problem. Since its inception, Anti Slavery Day has become a platform for advocacy and awareness-raising, particularly in the UK, where the Modern Slavery Act 2015 created stronger legal tools to tackle trafficking and exploitation.
