This year's campaign

National Family Caregivers Month is observed in the United States throughout November, including 1–30 November 2026. Caregiver Action Network leads the campaign and publishes the 2026 theme “Care Connects Us”.

Use a resource that matches the question

The campaign hub includes material organised around health conditions and caregiving topics such as work and support. Choose a resource for a specific need and check its intended audience. Information about a US service or system may not apply in another country.

The Caregiver Action Network toolbox is another route to its articles, webinars and resources. Read an event’s own page for dates, time zones and registration requirements rather than assuming everything on the hub is a live drop-in session.

Offer practical help with a clear choice

The following are our suggestions for a friend, relative or community group. Ask what would be useful instead of deciding on someone’s behalf.

• Offer a specific task. For example, ask whether help collecting shopping or completing an agreed household job would be welcome. Give a clear time and allow the person to decline.
• Make arrangements reliable. Confirm what you have agreed and let the person know promptly if it changes. Do not take over personal care tasks without an appropriate arrangement.
• Help locate information. Offer to find the relevant organisation’s contact route or opening hours. Let the caregiver decide whether to contact it.
• Include the person socially. Suggest a manageable catch-up with a flexible format. Do not make a public explanation of their circumstances a condition of joining.

A workplace activity for November

Review how employees can find information about existing support and raise an enquiry privately. Check whether the contact route, eligibility and process are clear. Agree one improvement and assign responsibility for completing it.

A celebratory event can accompany that work, but attendance or a personal story should be optional. Obtain consent before using photographs or accounts of someone else’s care arrangements.
