UK Clothing poverty day is an annual awareness event supported by Sharewear Clothing Scheme. The aim of the day is to raise awareness of clothing poverty and how it affects people in crisis across the UK. Sharewear provides emergency clothing, shoes and bedding to people in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire but has also supported further afield in the UK working with partners such as The Red Cross Emergency Response Unit and Grenfall Fire disaster. Last year we clothed 4,000 people and the numbers continue to increase year on year. We work with over 100 referral partners across Nottinghamshire. Clothing poverty day is being launched in conjunction with a documentary Sharewear:Uncovered about Sharewear’s work and who it supports, to be screened 9th June 2018 and seeks to appeal to the wider community for support, sponsorship and volunteers.
