About Cancer Support Scotland Day: current support information

Cancer Support Scotland has closed. This page no longer presents Cancer Support Scotland Day as an active 2026 event or directs readers to donate to the former charity. If you are looking for cancer support in Scotland, the current resources below offer a more useful starting point.

What happened to Cancer Support Scotland?

The Scottish charity regulator’s record for Cancer Support Scotland (Tak Tent), SC012867, shows that it has been removed from the register and records dissolution on 10 May 2026. A Scottish Government evaluation of cancer support experiences also discusses the charity’s closure.

Our earlier listing gave conflicting November dates and described the charity as an operating service. We have not verified a continuing awareness day under this name. Please do not use this historical listing to arrange an appointment, send a donation or plan a campaign in the former charity’s name.

Where can I look for support now?

  • Local information and practical help. Macmillan’s Scotland services directory lists information points and support services by area, including routes for money and benefits questions. Check the individual service’s details before visiting.
  • Support for people affected by cancer. Maggie’s support and information pages cover living with cancer, work, money and support for family and friends, with links to its centres and online information.
  • Questions about your care. Your existing cancer care team can help explain whom to contact about treatment, symptoms or the support available through your service.

Finding a service that fits

Before making a journey, check the location, opening arrangements, whether an appointment is needed and who the service supports. Ask about remote contact, accessibility or language support if that would make it easier to use.

You do not have to arrive with a complete account of everything that is difficult. Writing down one or two questions can help you start, whether they concern an appointment, a practical task or where to find further information.

Helping someone close to you

Ask what would be useful and keep the offer specific: a lift, a meal or help checking a service’s contact details. Let the person decide whether to accept and how much to share. Avoid passing on personal information to an organisation without their agreement.

Support needs can change. A quiet check-in later may be more helpful than assuming everything has been resolved after one conversation.
