What is happening in 2026?

Adoption England is working with PAC-UK and Adoption UK on events about modern adoption and the experiences of people affected by it. The programme also reflects on 100 years since the Adoption of Children Act 1926 in England and Wales.

The current You Can Adopt campaign, Every Day is Everything, continues through the week. It focuses on the everyday presence and stability an adoptive family can offer, rather than expecting prospective adopters to be perfect.

The week is an opportunity to listen to different experiences of adoption, understand the support people need and find reliable information about adopting. The campaign and services linked below focus on England; check local services for information relevant to your part of the UK.

When is National Adoption Week 2027?

The organiser pages checked on 21 October 2026 confirm the current week, 19 to 25 October 2026. We have not confirmed 2027 dates from those sources. Check the organiser’s announcement before carrying this year’s dates into next year’s calendar.

Where to find events and information

  • PAC-UK: its National Adoption Week programme includes free online events with adopted adults, birth parents, young adoptees and professionals. The page also explains plans for recordings and gives advice-line details.
  • Adoption UK: its 2026 event listings cover subjects including early permanence, contact after adoption and support for families. Follow the individual booking links for availability.
  • People considering adoption in England: You Can Adopt has information and stories, while its agency finder provides a route to a local conversation.

Check the date, audience and booking conditions of a session before sharing it. Some events during the week may already have taken place.

Using the week in school or workplace communications

Our planning suggestions are to share useful routes to information and leave room for different experiences of adoption.

  • Choose a clear purpose. A staff briefing on where to find support needs different information from an article for people considering adoption.
  • Use stories with permission. Link to material people have chosen to publish. Avoid asking a colleague, pupil or family to tell their story for a campaign.
  • Protect children’s privacy. Do not publish identifying details or photographs as part of an awareness activity without the appropriate permissions and safeguarding checks.
  • Include a next step. Link to the relevant event, advice service or agency rather than ending with a general request to raise awareness.

For a school activity, consider whether the language and task allow children with different family experiences to take part without having to explain their own background.
